Default the caves on mars.

the caves on mars provide me with new hope that theire may be some sort of life on mars, and no i'm not talking about some martian race of super beasts that live underground and eat tacos all day, but microscopic organisims. it would truely be amazing if the caves were a host to living organisims, i can't wait until nasa gets a chance to really focus a study on them. is anyone else excited? or is it just me?

i was watching something on tv the other day and it showed pictures taken by a satellite sent to mars after the rover went there and the face/pyramids showed up pretty nicely and they also had pictures of what seemed to be a glass tube winding in and out of a cliff face.. with what seemed to be a "car" or something stuck inside of the tube.. interesting stuff

it's that stuff that can be easily dismissed, but the idea that life finding sanctuary in the caves is an idea that can not.

eh... how can 2 different missions taking pictures of the same formations (these formations are almost impossibly non random formations) be dismissed? 2 pyramids and a face.. i forgot what the calculations where against the probability of them being a random occurrence but it was next to impossible. Especially when you add up the probability of both occurring in such a close radius.

some say this is a sand dune.. but it looks pretty strange having a sand dune hanging onto the edge of a cliff (and yes i'm a complete nerd)

from some of the 3d imaging i can see how they can dismiss the face, but that "glass tunnel" thing you posted, i will have to look further into that before i can really formulate my opinion, i do find it intrisiting

looks more like river deposits in a canyon to me. i see nothing like 'glass tubes'. that's a pretty wild assumption.

i looked into it, i can see where they can possibibly be seen as tubes, but i also looked at pictures of sand dunes and belive that is all that is in the picture, and it looks more like they are in a valley, not being suspended from the cliff. but back to the point, does anyone else think that there may be a possiblity that these caves can play as a host for life.

perhaps. i dont see why not, but then, im not really privy to that kinda of scientific knowlegle.

my understanding is that for life to be on mars there would have to be water, as the atmosphere isnt rich in oxygen... therefor the caves would have to be warm enough to not be frozen. so yeah, possible i guess.
