Default The state of punk today.

When did punk become about knowing less, fighting authority just for the sake of it, trying to be ignorant, ignoring obvious facts about racial issues, and not trying to learn anything because learning makes you "brainwashed"?

A bunch of users here have led me to the conclusion about the modern "punk scene". Well, moreso, people I've met in real life at punk shows have led me to this conclusion, and the people here just remind me of it.

Since when was punk just about rebellion, without thought or idea as to what you're rebelling against? When did it become about rebellion to feed your own self-centered needs - to ignore obvious fact just to make it so you don't have to change - to claim the rest of the world is the world that needs to change?

I think it goes down to the whole "Ignorance is Bliss" thing...
They're happy being the way they are, so they don't even try to improve themselves.
It's sad, really..

Nothing to you. But when I "overreact" as you call it, I'm almost always reacting to something that is a big deal to minorities, whether you understand it as such (which you never do) or not.

Unfortunately, that is what it seems is going on. Ignorance is bliss... It makes them happy.

Which goes back to my point about it being about rebellion that is self-serving now.

Default i think sooooo

Being vegan and playing in d.i.y punk bands for the last 16 years of my life i am finding it harder and harder in the u.k scene which is getting more about fucking hair do's than issues and the music. It is nice to hear people still give a fuck in this world, rather than spending more time in front of the mirror than actually being active in something meaningful. Balls balls balls. I hate to moan. I hate to hate too but you got me started, sorry
