So I've been getting really into hardcore punk lately (bands like Minor threat, Dead Kennedys, etc.). I was wondering, does anyone know of any HxC or SxE bands that still have concert atmospheres like early hardcore punk bands like Minor Threat? National bands or local bands, either are fine... I live in CT, so anything in CT, NYC, MA, RI, or even Philly would be cool for local bands if anyone knows of any. Also I've been checking out Bane recently, can anyone tell me what their shows are like? I just really wanna experience a show similar to something I'd be able to get at like a Minor Threat show back in the 80's...

Don't wish for a past that you didn't live in. The scene is what YOU make of it. Live in the now, and make YOUR scene 1000X BETTER than what the early 80s were.

Are you looking for for like 80's hardcore punk i.e. Minor Threat and black flag? Or are you looking for more modern-style oldschool hardcore straigh edge toughguy bands? Im not sure how to describe them other than they always wear basketball jerseys, sacouny's with ankle socks, and sweatbands. You know what im describing.

Excellent question!
YES, there are striving hardcore bands in the vein of the old school ways! If you really like Minor Threat check out the band Formaldehyde Junkies - they sound like a modern Minor Threat! I believe their 7" is uploaded to youtube. There are quite a few bands on the east coast that are really killer and practically "unknown" to the majority In Defence (Minneapolis) Night Fever (Denmark) Wasted Time (Virginia) Direct Control (Virginia) Total Wreck (Virginia, broken up, but have an amazing 7", I can email the songs if yer interested) I'm not from the east coast so my knowledge is limited as far as local bands.

And if youre looking for the toughguy basketball jersey hardcore, come to Maryland. Were rife with them. You can barely take three steps without tripping over a pair of sacouny's.

To be completely honest, I'd look into Comeback Kid if you're digging on Bane.
