they canceled their show in san marcos tonight because they couldnt get enough money to play......fucken 200 punks and skinheads show up.....im suprised that there wasnt a riot

the venue is also a fucked up place...they dont pay local bands if they dont draw a big enough crowd.....

so it could be the venues fault... i dont know... im still pissed about it though. but on one hand i met new people there so thats always good

Hi All.

Its is with regret that we have to inform any fans that were intending on going tonight, to the Jumping Turtle to see the show... as it will NOT be featuring SHAM 69. The 'promoter' Jeff Aragon of LOCAL PUNKS had decided to get Psycho Willy of WW PROMOTIONS to pull us off the bill! Why you ask?
Well it appears that this Jeff Aragon decided he was going to promote 4 shows 1 which had already been pulled under strange circumstance and the other 3 all of which had been badly publicised and organised by this man. It also transpired that whilst the band was on the road, that certain matters were coming to light of 'exactly' what Jeff Aragon had done in the way of promoting and organising these show.........NOTHING.
Leading up to the first of these shows it appeared that his presence was nowhere.... so the real promoters eg: the support bands took over.
It also appears that 1 show of which Jeff Aragon had been sussed, had been threatened that if a a depos it wasnt paid to him he would pull the show, when he had already assured the promoter not to worry as he will cover that. The promoter in turn contacted us and explained the situation, something that again Aragon had reneged upon.
At our show at the Tap Daddys venue Jeff Aragon was confronted by SHAM 69 and again he lied and promised the earth, it was only after considerable arguing and the fact that SHAM's road manager Big A drove him to the bank, that the matter was resolved 'in part'. In conclusion it became apparent that this Jeff Aragon is just a middle man who uses bands to do all the work and spending their money without doing anything himself and not spending a penny himself, to us we call people like that PIMPS. This Jeff Aragon was read his horoscope by the band and he didnt like it, so HE decided to whinge like a little scorned boy and go running to THE JUMPING TURTLE and pull us off the bill no doubt accompanied with more bullshit. We want it to be known to the bands that have supported us on this tour and who will, that we support them as they do us, but we wont allow us or them to be used and treated like wankers by peices of shit like ARAGON. Once again we apologise for not being there tonight and we hope that you either ask for your money back or insist on a major reduction in your ticket fee.

So, once again, a gig gets fucked by a 'promoter' who doesn't actually do any promotion.
Vice Squad set up a 'name and shame' list somewhere for promoters who have a reputation of not paying or who renage on deals.
Sounds like this guy should be on that.

yea i know what you mean... my situation was a little bit different but its fucked when you cant see the band or show you've been waiting to see cuz of some dumb ass piece of shit or whatever.... there should be something done...

This is why.

Not all promoters are bad, just the ones that want to make profit tend to piss everybody off and fizzle away.

The deathrock scene in SoCal is thriving once again because people eventually got tired of being sold out by so called "gothic" promoters and took the scene back from them. We do our own shows, festivals, 'zines, etc. now and bypass these dishonest, money-grubbing promoters.
