Default Blink-182 & My Chemical Romance set for summer tour - do you care?

Organizers for the annual Honda Civic Tour have paired Blink-182 and My Chemical Romance for this year’s outing. The summer tour will make its way to Massachusetts for a show at the Comcast Center in Mansfield on Tuesday, August 9. Tickets for the show, which range in price from $27 to $69, will go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. through Live Nation. A limited of lawn tickets will be available for just $6.25 through Sunday. Opening the show will be Georgia-based rockers Manchester Orchestra.

Since reuniting in 2009, Blink-182 have been hard at work on a new album. The band’s highly anticipated sixth studio effort and first since their self-titled release in 2003, with hopes of releasing it by the end of the year. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, singer/guitarist Tom DeLonge explained the band’s progress. “We thought we were closing in on the end, and literally a week ago we pumped out a whole set of stuff that I think will be some of the best on the album,” he said. “Recording is never really finished. You slide or limp into home base.” Fans can expect to hear some of the new material on the summer tour as Travis Barker added, “That’s what we’re most excited about.”

My Chemical Romance continue tour in support of their latest album, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. Released last November, the band’s fourth studio effort debuted at #8 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the Rock and Alternative Albums charts. Produced by Rob Cavallo, who also produced the band’s platinum-selling 2006 album The Black Parade, the concept album features 15 tracks including lead single “Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na)”, “Sing” and “Planetary (Go!)”.

As well as spanning the country with music this summer, the Honda Civic Tour is teaming up with the Maine-based non-profit sustainability organization Reverb to ensure a green-friendly tour. On-site concert innovations will also aim to encourage fans that it’s “easy to be green” by promoting simple, environmentally-friendly initiatives, games and education.

Continuing a Honda Civic Tour tradition, Honda will present fans with an opportunity to check out one-of-a-kind vehicles that have been customized and autographed by the headlining bands. Blink-182’s 2012 Honda Civic Si Coupe and My Chemical Romance’s Honda CBR250R motorcycle will be on display at each tour stop.

I like the song "Sing" by MCR. But does that mean I will pay $20 or more dollars for a ticket? Nope.

Now If someone bought me a ticket and have nothing better to do, sure why not?

Leave my ass out of it! Honda Civic? $69.00 a ticket? Major labels? Being the father of Nicole Ritchie's baby? Sorry, but this isn't what punk is about.

However, I do like MCR's version of the old Bob Dylan chestnut, "Desolation Row".

I'd see it if it was free, but I wouldn't pay to see it. Not at those prices.

(Where's Rudexgrrl to weigh in on any of this? She's a big Blink-182 fan)
