Default Negative Approach and DOA

Asbury Lanes, NJ

Both bands are a little worn from the years, but both kick ass still. I love to see a pioneering band from before my time that still puts everyone else to shame. Years later after a million (some decent some crap) Johnny come lately bands Negative Approach still has animosity that can't be matched and same goes for DOA's energy and performace. For the first time in a while I got to see some real deal punk rock showmanship. Not to mention Negative Approach covered The Weirdos Solitary Confinement which blew my cotton sox off.

D.O.A. is playing for FREE this Wed. in Chicago. The only draw back is IT'S OVER 21!

Oooooooof! If it wasn't for the all ages portion of the show then the crowd would have been cut in half. I was also happy to see a lot of new faces. The 21-25 demographic was dwindling here for a while.

Makes sense since most people under 21 haven't heard of them.

True, but I think all ages shows that have good ratio of the older crowd with some fresh bodies helps keep things rolling in a positive direction. There's so many generation gaps in the music it's nice to see a multi-generational crowd instead of tons of generational cliques.

I'm pretty sure it's a corperate backed deal so it's gonna blow cause they have no clue how to market such a festival. I'm pretty sure I know who exactly is the backbone on the corperate side and he only see's numbers.

DOA got some recognition agter American Hardcore came out. They talked about them a lot. NA came out for a bit but they wernt a main focus. They are still very underground even tho hatebreed coverd Sick Of Talk(very good). I thought after that they wouldve gotten more known.
