Default NOFX: Cokie The Clown

yeah so i just listened to the new NOFX EP. it's OK, but not great. the songs sound like they were left overs from Coaster. so if you liked that you may like this. i prefer their older stuff. the acoustic version of My Orphan Year is pretty rad. Cokie The Clown is OK but the rest is kinda just filler.

6 outta 10 all up.

so yeah.

end review.

Oh bugger. I ordered mine from Interpunk a week ago so it's somewhere between the U.S and U.K right now. To be fair on the website it does say summat along the lines of "these tracks where recorded as part of the Coaster sessions but where too good to go on the album" which kinda suggests the review ya just gave it.

I think they only way to look at NOFX is the way that FLIPSIDE used to look at the CRAMPS; It's NOFX! You know what to do

So in other words, it's exactly like all their albums - ok, not great, definitely not as good as their old stuff.

I think their old old stuff was bleedin' terrible. They only got good after Hefe joined. But we've done this to death a month or so ago.

I have to say I was a little upset after listening to the songs online, I wasn't expecting much as it's advertised as an EP of stuff that wasn't good enough to go on Coaster, but I was kinda hoping for something a bit more interesting.

In my opinion, I think it depends how far you go back. I'd say mid to late 90's NOFX was when they were at their best.

I loved Coaster, there's some good songs on there. Hated Wolf in Wolves Clothing though, no idea why, just can't stand it.

I only heard the Cokie the Clown song, and liked it pretty much, think I'll have to add this one to my collection as well. I'm just a sucker for NoFX

I bought it for pretty much the same reason. I like 'em and don't mind supporting them. I mean people rant about DIY V Corporate Sell outs, but NOFX have been churning it out on their own label and organizing their own shows for years and years. If nothing else they prove that you can "do it yourself" and still break out of the pub circuit. That's gotta be a positive for every other punk band out there.

This CD is Ok, not great, just OK. I loved Coaster, thought it was the best thing they've done for ages so ya can sorta see why these songs never made the cut.
