They're practically extinct now, but which soaps do you watch (or did you watch when they were still on the air)? I always liked The Edge of Night...and, in reruns, Dark Shadows.

You're old enough to remember "The Edge of Night"?
![]() Actually in the early 1980s there was a soap from Australia called "Prisoner" which the called "Prisoner: Cell Block H" in The U.S.A. It took place in an Australian women's prison. That, Mary Hartman, and Soap were the ones I used to watch.

I liked AMC a lot because it had Big Lou (Louis Edmonds), James Mitchell, and David Canary...and I had the hots for Robin Christopher as Skye.

He was great, yeah. I think the soaps took a wrong turn when they became preoccupied with characters in their teens and early twenties, and began to neglect their established elder performers. (Granted, some of those performers died or retired due to illness, but they were already being sacrificed on the youth altar.) It wasn't necessary to aim every show at young people: young people watched them anyway! What they were left with was a bunch of good-looking kids who couldn't act, and then what happened? Soaps were canceled left and right.

AMC was really big in the late 80's, a really popular DJ in Chicago (Steve Dahl/Garry Meier Show)had his daily All My Children updates which drew me in, it had good cheesey comedy-Mertle and ruth, hot chicks-eva larue, lucci,Rebecca Budig,Cady McClain (dixie) a few others who escape me...and Canary may have been one of the better soap characters ever...so no making fun of you, loved AMC for a good 5-6 years, and kept up with it for a few years after.

haha yeah i got into it around 88/89 (i was like 10 & there was not much on tv during the day back then) and watched on and off for the next 20 years ahha. I love Jack, he was Erika's true soulmate, I think. Lol listen to me. I just love Susan Lucci/Erika and her awesome daughter Bianca (hey, look at that... that's my daughter's name... i'm such a NERD). I remember when they brought back Kendall, the daughter that Erika had supposedly aborted because she had been raped. The first actress to play her was Sarah Michelle Gellar lol. I kinda liked the last one best, though, the super curly haired actress. Ahh AMC i miss the good love stories. Jack & Erika. Erika & Dimitri. Edmund & Maria. Dixie & Tad (the cad, lol). Greenlee & Ryan. Greenlee & Leo(RIP). Kendall & Zack. Kendall & Grenlee (lol, bitchfest). Edmund & Brooke. Adam & Brooke. Palmer & Opal. Bianca & Maggie. ♥♥♥Hailey & Brian. Haley & Mateo, rawrrrr. Remember early goth/punk Kelly Rippa LOL with her black hair ...i need a life and lol
