Default Multiple Personality Disorder

I know this is off topic, but I guess this would be the place for it.

So I was just curious, does anyone here think they know anyone with this disorder (if so, describe some of the things that this person does)?

Do you think it's more common in life than we may think?

Nah.. I don't think it's THAT common.
But it certainly does exist.

The problem is that most people don't think it's real at all. like something on a soap opera.

I'm kinda schizophrenic, but it conoincides with my bipolar.

When I am happy, I am like sky high, and laughing all the time.
But when I'm low (which happens all too often) apparently I act like a completely different person. I have been told that it was my minds way of dealling with me feeling severely depressed. Rather than hurt myself, or others, I take on another persona.

The only thing that changes, is that I become a complete bastard. As in, very violent. I was sent for evaluation when I knocked my dad out with a wooden cutting board. I am on medication, where I don't get quite so depressed, and in result I am not so violent.

The one thing that the medication doesn't take away is a voice in my head, she's called Carrie. And although it sound very deranged, find her presence comforting. Its like I am not going through this shit on my own. People can show sympathy, and say they understand, but its hard if you have never experienced anything like that.

Some of my friends are aware of Carrie, and know how I feel about her. And the speak as if she is a friend they haven't met yet. They ask me how she is, and things. My parents think it is encouraging me to go into 'fantasyland' but, its kind of like my friends are accepting that side of me.

Sorry, I rambled. The lack of understanding about anything like to do with mental disorders, are that 'they should be locked up'. I mean a 25 year old girl talking aloud to the voice in her head, is going to get looks. But people shout abuse at me, and to be honest, I just beat myself up over it.

The same in that she acts like a different person, but doesn't mentally shift into someone else completely. ...I'm just saying there's a huge difference.

It is not called Multiple Personality Disorder anymore. It is called Dissociative Identity Disorder.

I know it's probably not that common, but I wonder if more people than we think probably have it, but hide well. I mean shit, I read some old posts on this very forum that make me wonder if certain people create alter egos for themselves. It's very disturbing.
