Agreeable Moxie, but this is not about the different sub-genres of punk (I'm against separating through labelling too) - this has threads dealing with different forms of music and culture entirely. Although I think that it is being used as a breeding ground for ignorance.......

Hate to break it to you gramps, but this isn't 1977. Punk rock has gone in many different directions since then. Crust is different from street punk which is different from hardcore which is different from pop punk and so on and so forth. To pretend that these differences don't exist is just pretentious. At the end of the day I guess we're all still a bunch of punks, but that doesn't make us all the same, and that's a good thing.

Humans have an inherent need to classify and group things. We're just that way.

Well I hate to break it to you Junior but way back in 1977 we had all the same differences but never said it was Hardcore (Misfits), Pop, (Ramones), Crust, (Adverts), Street Punk, (Sham69), Ska/Two Tones (Specials). But you could go to any of these shows and see all the same folks from your local "Punk Scene" we called it Punk Music.

its still that way where i live. for the most part, i see all the same people at pop punk/hardcore/streetpunk/ska shows.

but to call ska like the specials punk is truly retarded.

That's great, but what part of "this isn't 1977" don't you understand? There are more people involved, which means there is more variety, which inevitably means there is more division. And WTF @ calling the Adverts crust? The more you blather on he more convinced I am that you're making it all up as you go along.
