Which bands or band members have you had the chance to meet? I've luckily gotten to meet a couple dozen bands over the years, but I'll just tell my top two. In 1998 I got kicked out of OzzFest for some bullshit. My sister and I were walking around outside of the concert and came across where all the tour buses were parked. We were just standing around for a few minutes when we saw the bassist for The Deftones walking towards their bus. We started up a conversation with him and he told us to come in. When we got in the bus, all the band members were just hanging out, drinking beer, etc. We got to chill with them for about an hour and a half. I was only 13 years old at the time, but they gave me several beers, then a bong filled with some killer pot. It was actually the very first time I'd ever smoked pot with a bong before, and it was The Deftones bong! I was so stoned when we left the bus that I could barely walk. Remember that I was only 13 so I'd only been smoking weed for about three years at that time, and The Deftones were very popular in the 90's, so give me a break if you think they suck! I haven't listened to them in 8-9 years, but I grew up in the 90's so I have some nostalgia when it comes to that type of music. So that's my first story : I got stoned with The Deftones when I was just a kid, and they let me use the first bong of my entire pot filled life! My other favorite story happened last year. My man and I went and caught a Dax Riggs show. After it was over we got started talking to him and he invited us and several of our friends backstage with him to smoke some of the weed I'd brought with us. We hung out, got stoned and talked about so many things for around an hour. I absolutely love Dax Riggs' music, so I was incredibly happy that I got to sit right next to him on a loveseat, pass joints back and forth and have a great conversation.

Angus Young from AC/DC, Guy Picciotto from Fugazi, Greg Ginn from Black Flag, and Martin Rev and Alan Vega from Suicide...all nice guys. Had fairly long conversations with Ginn and Rev, which was fun.

I've met my fair share of bands/musicians. I don't really feel too comfortable talking about that subject because I don't like to seem like I'm bragging, plus i want to show respect or their privacy.

I wouldve met HR from Bad Brains except I didnt recognize him. I thought he was just some homeless asshole who wandered in to the bar and kept getting in the way of me trying to load in my equipment. It was rather annoying at the time. I didnt realize who he was until someone told me the next day.

When you're in a band you tend to meet many other people in bands, and that's kind of impossible to avoid it unless you are a total recluse type who shows up at the gig right before you go on, and split the scene as soon as you're done. Also I've done a zine for years, so I also meet bands when they agree to an interview. Most people in other bands a friendly.

They always seemed like nice folks. One of my old bands opened a show for the Teen Idols and the bassist very kindly allowed me to use her amp.

![]() Yeah, I knew them best during the Philip, Matt, Keith, and Heather line-up. I saw them a whole bunch of times during that period. Great people, all of them.

Awesome! I love meeting musicians. Over the years I've only come across a couple bands and/or musicians that weren't nice to me. I have always made sure I didn't come across as a groupie, just someone who appreciates what they do. I'm not the type of chick who's coming up to them and saying "ermergerd, I love you and want to have your babies!" I tell them how much I enjoy listening to them and that their work has helped me get through a lot of hard times in my life. They get enough groupies, so I like to make a different impression.

The band that I actually had a chance of seeing was, I'm pretty embarrassed to say this, but it was Anti Flag, and I got lucky. What happened was the show finished way past midnight (12.30 am if I recall) and since public transport ceased operations around 11, so I was basically stuck, but luckily my friend and his wife agreed to give me a lift, but they told me they had to do some stuff first before they would finally go home, and much to my surprise, they were accompanying the band to their hotel (we went in his car while the band went there with their own van) So we reached the hotel, and 10 minutes later, the bassist asked us if we would join them in a really late meal, so we went to the nearest 24 hour place (which was just in front of the hotel anyway) and I sat at the same table with the Chris Head and Justin Sane, and surprisingly enough Justin was more quiet than Chris, and we all swapped stories and they asked us about politics here, the legalization of marijuana, food, piracy (which I admitted to Chris I spent one whole day from 3 pm to 3 am just to complete my post punk collection) and they told us some pretty funny stories, such as one involving Anti-Flag, Rise Against, Only Crime and a curry in the UK, about the time they toured with NOFX and a certain incident in Justin's childhood that caused his parents to lose their vegetarian restaurant to their partners. I also met Guttermouth before they performed and chatted for a bit, but I didn't get to hang out with them after the show. Though from what my friend told me, they did drink a lot. I did remember one of the band members buying a Devo t-shirt my friend was selling at his booth, I can't remember which one, but I think if you watched the Guttermouth documentary on them travelling the T-shirt is just a simple black t-shirt with the band name in white.
