Default Anyone Else Listen to Folk Punk?

If you do, share some bands here so more people can get into the good shit! Here's a list of some of my favorite folk punkers:

Against Me! (ONLY THE FIRST 3 ALBUMS!!! DON'T START WITH WHITE CROSSES AND START BITCHING TO ME ABOUT HOW TERRIBLE IT IS. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. Also, all of their EPs, yes even the new ones, are great.)
Chuck Ragan
Frank Turner
Andrew Jackson Jihad
Harley Poe
Defiance, OH
Violent Femmes
Billy Bragg
Gogol Bordello
Mischief Brew
Tom Gabel

-Seconding Defiance, Ohio BIG TIME.
-Johnny Hobo's alright when he's not using a drum machine, though a lot of those songs, minus the drum machine would be instant fucking classics.
-Can't go without mentioning Against Me again.
-Check out Holy Modal Rounders for some mid-sixties NY art pre-punk folk stuff (I wonder if I could use any more words to describe them)
-The Builders and the Butchers - though they're not really punk, just really good hillbilly leaning folk
-Pine Hill Haints if you like more bluegrass stuff
-Can't leave Charles Manson out. haha!
- a band called Screams of Christ ... really good acoustic crusty shit.
- Counterfeit Matt ... I've only heard his stuff on myspace back in the day
- riotfolk stuff is hit or miss usually

Your list pretty much covered it. I like a lot of hillbilly/bluegrassy type of stuff ... But enjoy some politically leaning folk punk.

I do love the bluegrass/folk punk as well. I've been a hardcore Old Man Markley binge as of late.

I'll have to check that out. Also, listen to the .357 String Band, they're talented as hell bluegrass, but along with traditional songs they sing about satan and getting drunk. All good in my book.

Mischief Brew is pretty good. Saw them in Ashland, OR a few years ago.

Although, (and perhaps this is an unfair generalization) I get kind of fed up with the folk punk "scene". Meaning kids who think they're umpteen million times cooler than you because they hop trains and spange everywhere.

That's weird. I've never noticed that before. And are you from the Ashland area? I used to do shows up there all the time! We actually did a show with Tyvr who are folk punky sounding.

Nah. I only listen to Adam Rebelius. There are those who say he invented the whole "Folk Punk" thing because he dropped acid when he was only five years old, and was put in a white rubber room, and listened to nothing but Woody Guthrie, Johnny Cash's "Live At Folsom Prison" The Shaggs "Philosphy of The World". Adam Rebelius became a folk punker by default. After being in one or two bands that failed or fell apart, he decided that even though he really wanted to form a proper punk band complete with drums, bass and a second guitarist, he REALLY NEED to get on stage and assault an unsuspecting public with his music. Since he couldn't find the right musicians to form a proper band with, He decided that he would just take his crappy little Epiphone Les Paul Jr. Special model, and just plug into any amp supplied by any band playing at any gig that would let him get on the stage and play with himself. When he's not taking care of his sick and aged mother, or trolling the social network sites, trying to stir up trouble on the internet, Adam Rebelius can be seen at various local shows, supporting the local bands/musicians, passing out what has been described by some as his, "Shitty Ass C.D.s" to anyone who asks, (And forcing them on those who don't) or selflessly promoting the social network site, "Punk Rockers Dot Com" By passing out flyers, that will eventually be crumpled up and thrown on the ground, or turned into paper airplanes. And when he's not doing that, he can be found in his "Man Cave" writing new songs, practicing his music, singing along with his favorite music, and generally making an idiot out of himself before he passes out in a drunken stupor.

Big Smile Magazine once said of Adam Rebelius the following: Adam Rebelius is a very interesting music maker. His music is original stands out, yet isn't too far out there.

This is what SOME people have said about the alleged inventor of "Folk Punk" Adam Rebelius, but I personally think they're full of shit if you ask me.
