It's cheap and available everywhere... And it has become an "American Institution".

Well, Bud isn't that bad actually. But I also like pretty much any beer because I'm not picky. But Bud w/ Lime is a really good one.

Some people can't handle the alcohol content of real beer. Or maybe they're bad at math. Take Pabst drinkers for example. They buy a Pabst at $2, because they think they can't afford a $4 real beer, but they have to drink 3 Pabsts to equal one real beer, so they're really paying $6 a beer. And they all must be lightweights, since they start acting drunk after their 3rd PBR, when compared to everone else, they've really only had 1 beer.

Christ! We need to have an annual punkrockers.com beer bash and provide lots of Fin Du Monde!
Beer is not supposed to be made of rice!

Funny you should say that. PBR is one of the few cheap beers I like!

I know lots of people that drink PBR instead of non-alcoholic beer because they like the taste better, and they don't like getting drunk.

Drinking beer should be an adventure! Everyone should try new and exotic beers all the time. What kills me is how bikers drink bud for beer and Crown for whiskey... why the sudden application of standards when it comes to the hard stuff?

The only time I drink beer if it's to try a beer I've never had. Beer is good....

I'm confused. How is drinking Crown Royal the same as having standards?

Budweiser isn't half bad...No where near my favorite, but not bad. It's not a beer I would buy, but I'll drink it if someone offers it. If I buy, I buy the darker beers only.

I have a 1955 bottle of whisky, unopened a customer gave me a couple years ago, I figure I'll save that for something special... As to why I drink Bud, it was something me and friends always drank, when I was 13 it was Burgiemeister (no longer in business I think) which was cheap, later it was Bud because it was cheap, I don't remember expensive or alternative ales or the beer selection you see now, the first import I remember was Corona, and that is nothing special. Your avg liquor store was limited pretty much to Coors (pee), Bud, Miller, Michelob (eww) and that is all I can remember, I met up with some old friends recently, it was still Budweiser in the coolers, well Bud Light since they have all gotten fat.

I think it has to do with 2 things, marketing and the type of people.
Bikers are proud Americans, American made Harley Davidsons, you will never see a true biker on a Kawasaki. Budweiser is American.
Budweiser has marketed their brand differently then other beers, from the Clydsdale horses stampeding or pulling a stage coach, to marketing to the avg working guy, and don't forget the Eagle logo.
If you look at Michelob or Miller, they are more upscale in the way they advertise, their advertisements wouldn't be for the typical biker.
Budweiser has done a great job of marketing, memorable themed commercials, don't forget the frogs, the wassup guys.
When I think of other memorable themed commercials by beer makers I can't think of any, when I think of Coors all I think of is a mountain in the Colorado Rockies.

To this day I still wanna kick the shit out of the Waaaasssssuuuuuuuppppp guys. In all seriousness Budweiser isn't a drinkers beer or a beer you'd use for unarmed combat. Funny enough many years ago I was in the Tottenham (a pub in Tottenham court road, London that gets mentioned in one of the songs in the film train spotting). Any hoo, two American guys at the bar, doing the whole Europe thing ordering two buds (i'm next to 'em at the bar) one turns to the other and says "best beer in the world". What struck me as funny was that at the time you couldn't buy your standard American bud in England because it was too weak. No one who takes beer seriously in the U.K touches a Lager with less than 5% Alcohol, unless it's for the babies bottle. So it struck me as funny that these guys weren't drinking the U.S bud that they cherished so dearly, but they where drinking the European version that had been cranked up to 5%.

But if you wanna seriously study beers, go to Belgium. Yeah I know I thought Belgium was one of those loser countries too. Turns out they have more beer than anyone. Yeh for Belgium.

Not all bikers drink Budweiser. I know alot of 1%ers (HA, Bandidos, Outlaws, etc.). Bikers are people just like punkers and they will drink whatever they like or whatever is available.

Living in scotland any of the american beer companies that supply over here are just truely awful. american beer/larger is just bland and poor. Even Budweiser is poor, Miller is awful, Coors is watery. Give me tennents, becks, san migual and real ales any day

When I visited England, I had a budweiser & was shocked at how good it was compared to what they serve in the USA. It still sucked balls, but it was 100 times better than what they try to pass off as beer over here. Luckily, I live near Portland which has a handful of AMAZING breweries, and I can get a decent beer any time I want.

pbr has a reasonably high alcohol percentage. unless you are drinking barley wine or some shit, it is not going to have three times the alcohol of pbr.

Beer, yup, thats a tread! Good beer, shitty beer...when your broke as a joke, The Beast, When the green flows, Guiness. When the green is fuckin overflowin, Scotch!

Cheap beer can lead to an instant headache. Bud used to be great! During the depression they switched from a good grain to rice. Two reasons, the obvious cheaper, and the average workin man could drink more.

Hoppsy heavier beers YUM. cheer(*

I'm completely got your back on this one

I don't live in Scotland, but here in Holland the US Beer tastes just plain horrible compared to the ones we got. Heineken is the worst beer we got, even the cheap-ass stuff I drink has more taste to it. When I want a real beer though, I'll just get meself something from our local brewery or imported Belgian stuff, Belgium: beer country #1! (to me that is).
I've been to a beer café in Brussels once, called The Delerium Café. They had a "menu card" of about 50 pages, consisting of only beer! That was a good night out haha
