A Rainy Morning

A young woman in a wheelchair,

wearing a black nylon poncho spattered with rain,

is pushing herself through the morning.

You have seen how pianists sometimes bend forward to strike the keys,

then lift their hand, draw back to rest,

then lean again to strike just as the chord fades.

Such is the way this woman

strikes at the wheels, then lifts her long white fingers,

letting them float, then bends again to strike

just as the chair slows, as if into a silence.

So expertly she plays the chord

of this difficult music she has mastered,

her wet face beautiful in its concentration,

while the wind turns the pages of rain.

I thought you two were the same person? At least that's what I've been hearing...

Do you believe everything you hear?

From my bed
I watch
3 birds
on a telephone
wire.
one flies
off.
then
another.
one is left,
then
it too
is gone.
my typewriter is
tombstone
still.
and I am
reduced to bird
watching.
just thought I'd
let you
know,
fucker.

An Irish Airman Foresees His Death

I know that I shall meet my fate
Somewhere among the clouds above;
Those that I fight I do not hate,
Those that I guard I do not love;
My country is Kiltartan Cross,
My countrymen Kiltartan's poor,
No likely end could bring them loss
Or leave them happier than before.
Nor law, nor duty bade me fight,
Nor public men, nor cheering crowds,
A lonely impulse of delight
Drove to this tumult in the clouds;
I balanced all, brought all to mind,
The years to come seemed waste of breath,
A waste of breath the years behind
In balance with this life, this death.

(written in 1919)

here's one I wrote recently.

of the evil and darkness, I feel exposed,
twisted and convicted and so sickly posed,
a play thing for the masses, choked on,
my mind caked with the excrement that
you live upon, shadows cavort creating
splatters of dismay, gathered in the gardens,
the labyrinth, the spiraling brain tease that
leads you every which way, branded by
a dark spell, which deletes your identity,
conforming to a rabid mold fit not for you,
but for society, subsequently a pawn
in some sick perverse way, slave sweet
drone drained, denied and decayed, eyes
bleed the truth that cannot be chained

When a thread with some potential is created why don't people discuss it? Sure other people's poetry is nice and everyone has a few they take a shine too but why? What's the point of a poetry thread of any sort if you're not willing to talk about it. It becomes mindless babble like the word association thread.

I read it. Wasn't a difficult read. Interesting perspective.

Everything I write on here isn't difficult to read. Also, I'd like to promise you that it will be worth it once you've finished reading it.

I will be posting a few interesting topics in a few days...here's some topics I'm thinking of using:

1. Spontaneous Human Combustion

2. You're Stand On The War That Isn't Declared

3. America...United We Stand?

Actually, that's all I can think of right now. Personally, I think the most interesting will definitely be Spontaneous Human Combustion. I'm very interested in that topic.

If you have any suggestions, please do let me know.

Sometimes people don't feel like reading...it's actually pretty strange to come to a message board if you don't like reading. Anyways, feel free to discuss any topic you want...I promise to participate.

Also, I posted that poem only because it's meaningful to me. I figure if one person reads what I write on here...then I'm happy.

I think CSI probably has you beat on spontaneous combustion. Personally I am more interested in your 3rd topic.

C.S.I.?

Sorry...but isn't that a television show?

Anyways, the third topic will be interesting...especially if you are into politics. It'll probably make quite a few of you angry, and I'm sure I'll get a lot of shit for it.

Agreed.

Why would I watch a fictionalized television show about Spontaneous Human Combustion when I could simply go research it online, and come up with my own hypothesis?
