View Full Version : Display name help?

Hey, just a quick technical question... hope it's okay to post those here.

So when I set up our account, I put in "thepubcrawlers" for a username, thinking that that would be the name I used to log in, and that I would be able to choose a different name for the profile title. As it turns out, of course, that is now our profile title. I'd love to be able to change it to "The Pubcrawlers," but I don't see an option to do that in the account settings. I could always make a new profile, I suppose, but we already have a bunch of cool people who added us as friends right off the bat and I'd hate to have to start over. Any chance of getting the name changed through official channels?

Cheers,
Andy

interesting that you have brought this up. I just got off the phone with my team regarding this very thing. At this time there is NO WAY to change your display name. The only thing you can do is resign up and add a space between your name upon sign up. For now, I would say do that or live with the way it is.

We are looking at different options right now. But not sure when or how we are going to do this just yet.

To be honest I think if you were to have the option of changing names or usernames then it would all get out of control.. ya know? like the kids on myspace with a different name everyday reflecting their mood. It will only cause problems of forgetting who the hell you were talking to haha. I do it everyday on myspace, so not good. Haha. But anyways to solve the problem maybe put in bold red when you sign up to make sure everyone knows THIS IS IT! haha

end of story.

I agree, i do need to let people know that they will not be able to change it. We are working on letting users select a URL upon sign up also

Lady Marina: It doesn't have to be an option to CHANGE the name persay, but to format it (add a space, change where the capital letters fall, etc).

We are looking at letting new sign ups know that they are selecting there username and it is unchange-able. Then, you will have a URL selection later that will be in your settings. You will have a onetime selection for that also. just like myspace

Yes sir. I was just thinking of the chaos.. I'm sorry haha. But if it's just format, fine.. But if I see this " LaDy MaRiNa" .. I will kill someone. :) Only a little though.

Cool, thanks for the advice guys. As I said, it's not a deal-breaker and I'd just as soon not have to re-add all of the people on our list, so we'll just leave it as is until the option becomes available. My only suggestion is the one you've already mentioned, which is to let people know that their user name will also be their display/profile name. Thanks again for the responses.
