Just a random thought... What's the one beer you would wish for, if it was going to be your last?

I love Pabst, but Guiness on tap is a heavenly experience. I think that would be choice.

A true imported label of Carlsberg before LaBatt's started brewing and bottling it in Canada. The flavour hasn't been the same since. Of course to do this I would need either ruby red slippers or a time machine!

Studies show that Guinness can be good for the heart. They've found antioxidant compounds in Guinness, kinda like the ones found in certain fruits and vegetables. The antioxidants help slow down the deposit of harmful cholesterol on the artery walls. Well that's the rumor anyway.

Guinness sales in Britain and Ireland dropped 7% in 2006. But its still heavily favored over there to my understanding. It isn't just an American obsession either. Guinness has nice nitch in Africa (sold since 1827). About 40% of Guinness is brewed and sold in Africa.

In 2006, Canada had higher Guinness sales on St. Patrick's Day than in Ireland. O_O

Sales wise in the US has shown a 9% increase. Not huge but alright, but my point is Guinness isn't just an American obsession. And but there are better ales out there some have yet to be discovered I'm sure. But whiskey is more of an irish tradition than Guinness in my mom's branch of the family and it seems to be that way the Irish-American families I encounter here...alcoholism too.

lol I can tell you an earfull about Carlsberg too! :P Good stuff by the way. But if you're looking to hide bodies, freezers are old school. Take them to a compost facility or make nice with your local butcher. ;D

There is a brewpub in town that has a fantastic stout. It's called Or Dubh. It's Irish Gaelic ( I think) for something to do with gold. It's my favourite beer in the whole world.

Dubh means black in gaelic.

I'm guessing it's because it's a stout, thus dark.

I got pretty burnt out on PBR so I switched to Carlsberg for times of wasting. :D I drink good beers in moderation, because I aim to enjoy what I'm drinking then. I don't ever want to lose one of life's little joys Guinness, chips (aka steak fries), and soccer (football in the rest of the world). So hats off to Carlsberg for supplying stupid drunk fun.

really? i can't think of a sporting event that doesn't have some kind of liquor... i thought beer and chips went together like peanut butter and jelly...except one gets you kinda intoxicated. my friends have consisted of mainly rowdy boys so i thought it was natural to have that kind of a mixture.

you missunderstand entirely hahaha.

the combo of beer, chips and football is fantastic. the exceptional bit is that youre a girl and you like this. i donno the deal with 'soccer' in the states, but over hear, finding a girl that would enjoy coming down the pub to watch the game is pretty rare.

I'm so jealous of everyone over there. You guys have real pubs to go to and a culture to go with it! There are sports bars over here but they're just not the same (from what I hear). Soccer isn't that big of a deal over here like baseball or 'foot ball'. But I think a pub and a game sounds as good as dinner and a movie sorta thing.

yeah, we dont really have typical 'sports bars'. i guess there is some, but theyre generally american imports. pretty much every hole in the wall pub puts the footy on. its just, as you said, the culture.

its kinda rediculous when you think about it, even the posh bier houses have wide screens for sports. theres no escaping football in this country.

My all time favorite beer would have to be, hands down, CHIMAY. Brewed by Belgian Trappist monks for generations. It tastes fucking great, has a reasonably high alcohol content, and comes in a corked bottle that you pop like champagne. These guys dedicate their whole lives to making beer to support their way of life....a noble cause indeed.
