Where were you? Do you remember how you felt that day and days following?
I really feel for the families and all of the people who were effected by this day 6 years ago.

I worked for a health plan based out of New York, Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield, and I will forever remember being on the phone with a guy who needed to get his perscription refilled....he was crying and hysterical. But the desperation in his voice was heartbreaking. I spent almost an hour on the phone with him, trying to calm and console him, and to this day we have remained friends and speak once a month.
We both had family members who worked near the trade center. Luckily they were alright. I feel for everyone whose lives were forever altered by that day, as well. It will never be forgotten!

September 11th, as tragic as it was, was an excellent opportunity for America to prove to the world that they aren't a bunch of pricks. Instead they went and did the exact opposite, all the while invoking the memory of the 9/11 attacks in the most vulgar ways imaginable. 9/11 became an obscene rallying point for American machismo. 9/11 came to serve as a selling point for western consumerism. Politically, 9/11 served the same purpose as the burning of the Reichstag. And yeah, it's really terrible that so many people died and it sucks for everybody who was effected by it. But it's also really terrible for millions of people who suffer every day as a result of American foreign policy.
Oh yeah, I was in English class reading Macbeth when I heard about the attacks.

I remember getting ready for school and my parents were watching it on TV. . . it was before the planes hit the Trade Center, so they were just showing footage from the Pentagon, and I laughed and said, "Wow, they finally got us . . . "

I was on tour last September and happened to be in NYC on 9/11. I really wanted to go to Ground Zero, but my old singer and bassist started bitching that they'd already seen it (selfish pricks) so we ended up going to Coney Island and eating hot dogs. I had a candy apple (it was delicious) and chased crabs . . .

I never went to see ground zero, because it seemed like it would be a stupid waste of my time, to be honest.

I was in bed sleeping in. My sister woke me up screaming and crying. We both had friends that worked in and around the towers and knew fire, rescue, and police responding to the disaster. I brought in every steel worker I knew to the site, brought in supplies, and worked out of the Javits Center providing supplies and relief for the off comming fire fighter and paramedic shifts. My company is powering the memorial site service tonite. I'd be there right now if I wasn't dead tired. 364 days of the year I try and forget it. I've never met anyone from outside the Tri-State that ever had any idea of the effect it had on the region so all outside opinions are mute in my opinion no matter how vulger or sympathetic.

My friend got divorced on 9/11. Her case was the last one at the courthouse. As soon as she walked out of the room, they told her to hurry carefully to her car as there had been a terrorist attack in NYC and all government buildings were closing.

I had just graduated from boot camp and was at artillery training school in Oklahoma... all of us fresh, green boots were all like "What the fuck? You mean I actually gotta do that whole WAR shit!?!?! I thought we were just gonna hang around in Japan for 4 years and then you'd pay for my college!!!"
That night, about 25% of my training class platoon disappeared off base, never to be seen again.

1. I don't give a fuck what you don't like. I don't give a fuck what you want me to do (i.e. cut it out).
2. I also don't give a fuck what you think is wrong, as morality is relative, for the most part.
3. In addition, I have never claimed to be "punk rock", and certainly don't think making jokes like that makes me anymore or less of a punk than I might actually be/not be.
Anyway, mocking tragedy is a healthy way of dealing with the reality of misery that we could/might/do live in. Ask any psychologist.
p.s. Did you hear about American Airlines's new deal? They’ll fly you straight from the airport to the office.

Mocking tragedy is certainly a way to deal with heartache...yet I wouldn't exactly call it healthy.
That's my professional opinion, as for my personal opinion...I'd say laugh all you want about a personal tragedy. Yet, I'd like to ask that you steer clear from issues that effect the rest of our country. As of June 2004, the official death count is listed as 2,976...what's there to laugh about?

I'm so tired of hearing aout how man people died in the attacks. Over 40 thousand people are killed in car accidents every year. Thousands upon thousands of people in the third world die every day from curable diseases. 75 thousand Iraqis have been killed since 2002. So many things happen everyday that makes 9/11 look about as serious as a stubbed toe. A piss in the ocean really. But all anybody wants to say is "3000 PEOPLE DIED THAT DAY OMGZ!" Get over it. Next time you wont train Islamic radicals how to kill people.

Ya know oingo boingo had a song called it only makes me laugh. It sometimes is easier to laugh things off then get to upset but for me I get pissed off. When Japan bombed pearl harbor it was a genius move. It wasn't to try and kill americans, it was to destroy our naval fleet. Which in return would help them win the war. 9/11 served no purpose. It did nothing to our millitary and for the most part it just pissed americans off.

9/11 absolutly had a purpose. Osama bin Laden didn't wake up one morning and say "I'm going spend years meticulously planing and implementing these attacks, no to mention the millions of dollars I'm going to spend, for no reason." He declared a war against America because he was upset by their military presense in Saudi Arabia during the first gulf war.

Well...your right there are quite a few people that die everyday. Yet, do you realize that this attack on America is one of the biggest yet? That's what makes it a big deal...it makes it a big deal that everyone went to work one day, and the next day they were gone because a few guys were emotionally unstable.
These people were all murdered, on the same day, for the same reason. That's what makes it a day to morn over...as for everyone 'getting over it'...I doubt that'll ever occur...

I agree, it's sucky. But at the same time, the American government commits acts of terror and espianoge every single day. The 9/11 attacks were the chickens coming home to roost, and nobody seems to want to recognize this. It's not about a few guys being emotionally unstable. It's about millions of people being consistantly shit upon by America and it's foriegn policies. The only difference between the 9/11 attacks and carpet bombing the bejesus out of some third world country is the press coverage. I mean, when they kill civilians its terroism. When we do it's collateral damage or the nature of war. Suicide bombing is the third world equivillent to laser guided missiles.
I don't sympathize with Al-Queda, but I certainly don't sympathize with the US either. As far as I'm concered both are terribly opressive forces, and I can only hope that their ideologies will mutually destroy eachother before they destroy everything else.

You really should differentiate between American ideologies and the American government’s corporate driven tenets. Americans as a whole are a tolerant, sympathetic and isolationist group. They want the "American dream" (Dr. Noodles can explain the psychological dilemma the American Dream theory creates that ultimately leads to anomie and strain, and how the American Government uses these to propagate the attainment of the "American Dream" through global economics.)

Yes, I agree. Our government is completely messed up, and they don't really give a shit about anyone.

I was in Austin, Texas waking up in a motel 6. I had just come back from Arizona the night before and it was my first time in a plane. My brother woke me up and said the trade center had been "bombed". Theres a flea market type place in Corpus Christi,Texas called the Trade Center so I was like why the fuck would someone want to bomb the flea market. My brother turned the TV up higher and I couldnt believe what I was seeing. The news was reporting live saying that a plane had possibly hit the tower and right there on live TV a plane smashed into the second tower. Unbelievable. That day we went to the capital and there was an ass load of state troopers. At the time I was wearing all black with long hair, huge ass ray bans and my pants tucked into my knee high boots. I got alot of stares from the troopers but being Austin they just let me walk right in. that whole day was almost silent. We went down 6th street to grab a beer and there was a big guy dressed in leather and wearing moccasins pulling his girl on a leash. People were talking about how there was going to be a war and how they were probably going to start the draft all over again. Crazy ass day. Throughout the years to come I saw some ugly ugly videos online of ground zero before, during and after. Man, it was horrible.
