Against Me! is pretty good. I saw them back in May when they were touring with Mastodon.

I've seen them live quite a few times and meet them before. I think they are great. Their live show is amazing and they're all really nice dudes. You picked a good album to start out with, Reinventing Axl Rose is fucking amazing.

Their new stuff is pretty decent, but their old albums will always pwn. I don't really buy into the whole idea that they are changing their music to attract different people, I just think they are progressing like many talented musicians did (Bob Dylan).

I was in the same boat as Zach for a while after "Searching For A Former Clarity" came out. I hate the fact that they used to be so DIY, demo tape, etc. and now they are on Sire, but I can still defenitely get down to a lot of their music.

I don't reall care that they changed their politics. I mean, it kind of bothers me that Tom Gable still identifies himself as an Anarchist while playing for a major lable, but wha really bothers me is that their sound has changed so much that they sound absolutly nothing like the band I fell in love with. And maybe it's just me being weird, but I used to feel like their music was something that existed for me, and their new music takes away that feeling from the old songs for me. It fucking sucks.

I haven't heard any songs off of new wave yet but from the sounds of it it doesn't sound that good, but if I were to ever find it on vinyl I'll buy it. At one time I only liked the song off of R.A.B. VOL.1 but then I heard "From her lips to god's ears" on the 2006 warped tour comp, my point of view changed. I had only liked them two songs then last weekend I bought both them vinyls and I was liked "wow they are really talnted, they manage to have a punk indie sound, I'm not a big indie person but Against Me is a really good band.

Against Me! is an amazing band. Their older albums are better then their new ones. But I still like the new one. It just seems to me that their statement back then was something they strongly believed in. Now it seems that their statement doesn't have a strong effect.

White people for peace is a good song off their new album

I'm not one to hate a band just because they sign to a major label, but I can really think of no other excuse for Against Me!, Reinventing was made with such fire and intensity and emotion, and then Searching....It just felt too dumbed down, recycled, they sang like they didn't even care anymore. I'm not even going to touch New Wave,or even look at it, in fact, I'll try not to think aobut it

the old stuff far outwieghs the new.

it's like 'd by p' here said. it's lost that urgancy and fire. there's nothing unique about the new albums, they just start and end without grabbing my attention. it's lost all its personality and approchable...ness.

Wait you guys said they sighned to Sire? That's the same damn company that recorded The Ramones First album. But seriously I'm a big DIY person , and I hate major labels , but come on admit at least some bands on major labels are good. I like Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Linkin Park and they're both on Warner Bros, AC/DC, KoRn, Pearl Jam, and believe it or not Social D were all on Epic.

It's not about what lable their on (even though I'll never take Tom Gables politics seriously again.) It's about their music sounding God awful.

I haven't heard the whole album I only heard that one song. But I'll go back to their myspace and check out the others. I actually just got done writing a letter to Against me and I'm sending it today hopefully after their tourI'll get a reply back either that or their production company will send shit back my biggest guess is I'll get a RTS

Hold it right there. I've heard Against Me, and they sound nothing like Crass. Crass is the absolute worst hippy shit band that has ever taken a dump in anyone's ear, and to compare another band to them is a low fucking blow.

I like their first album. Didn't care for anything after that. Not because I think they are sell outs or anything but I don't like them enough to own all their albums.

I agree to an extent. I kind of felt the same way about the Distillers. Of course they weren't political at all but hearing their first album and the then their second before they exploded, I felt like they existed for me, like you feel like you own it a little more than everyone else. And now Brody wants nothing to do with punk.

But back to Against Me! Look at the Clash, they broke down barriers while compromising in order to reach a mainstream audience with a not-so-mainstream message. Plus, Joe Strummer was, or at least considered himself a socialist.
In terms of sound, the Clash, among other punk bands, evolved over the years, not just as musicians but as individuals. Of course, we all want our punk icons to be just as angry when they first started out but they're human.
A lot of punk bands in general, start when dudes are in their teens. You can't expect Gable not to have a broader view of the world as he gets older. He's 28 now and he started playing as a solo act when he was 17.

eh.. whatever floats your boat. I'm no authority punk rock or anything.
I just don't like Anti-Flag because they sound washed out and bland and the Casualties just sound the same with everything they do.
Against Me? They sound bland and washed out too.

But yes, DRI and Agression are two of my favs.

Are you kidding me? Almost all of Anti-Flag's songs are politcal and Against Me has maybe 5 politcal songs. They are nothing alike!

Why would you think Against Me is all about anarchy and peace? I'm guessing you're referencing "Baby I'm an Anarchist" and if you read the lyrics to that song, sure sounds like satire to me.
