Anyone like to drink wine? I am a HUGE beer connoisseur but those extra carbs and empty calories are foiling my exercise regiment. My girlfriend got me into wine and I really like it but don't really know what to buy. Not a fan of the whites, just the reds (not talking about you soup is good food). Any suggestions? Right now I am drinking a Blackstone Merlot and it is pretty tits.

I've heard many good things about elderberry wine. I've never tried it myself though.

Isn't that the stuff Hobbits drink whilst smoking their pipes?

I don't like red wine much but I am a fan of white whine. I don't know anything about it though. I just enjoy drinking it every once in a while.

SHE is a keeper.

Me too. I'll drink white, but I don't really care to get anything decent of it. I'll spend $50 or more on a good bottle of red when I have the money, though. But white? $10 is about it for me.

Don't worry, we chased him off!

I like chianti. It's a type of pinot noir from the ... Chianti region! of Italy. It's pretty good. It goes well with poultry, pasta, or red meat, so that's pretty great.

I have a bottle on my desk right now I'm saving for Sunday, it's from Pozzi, which is apparently a vineyard that's been around since 1727.

It also goes well with human liver and fava beans.

wouldn't drinking vodka or some sort of hard alcohol serve the same purpose if you're worried about calories etc?

He isn't trying to get super drunk. He's trying to drink stuff with his meal.

Not every meal. And to get a nice sipping whiskey to drink with a meal, you've gotta spend a lot more than you do on beer or wine.

Most definitely. Wasn't expecting to get my horizons expanded.

I was going to try a chianti last night but went with the Merlot. I think I will try one tonight. I'm going to do some wine tasting next weekend and get some wine education. I am surprised how well a good red wine goes with a barbecue! It's the perfect thing to wash down a tasty tri-tip with.

I like my whiskey. However I don't like it with a filet mignon. Whiskey is what I drink to obsolve myself of responsibilty for a night of debauchery. Just blame it on good 'ol Jamesons.
