View Full Version : Illegal Immigration..

There are many arguments for allowing undocumented workers in America; here are some against illegal immigration.

Though illegals immigrants contribute to the economy, they lower working wages for American workers. Why is it that some business owners violate the law by hiring illegal immigrants? Is it because they are better workers or more educated? No, it is because they are cheaper than Americans. Thus, if an American should want to break into an industry at the ground level, he/she is now forced to compete against people who are willing to work illegally for less. Americans cannot work for less by law, thus they are forced out of a job they could have had, unless they want to also work illegally. Since businesses compete, once one reprobate capitalist breaks the law, the rest must either follow suit or be outcompeted. This is a major problem with illegal immigration today.

Another problem with illegal immigration is that it is a slap in the face to law-abiding potential immigrants. By allowing people to flood across our two major borders, what does that tell somebody from Romania who would like to experience the American dream? It tells him that Americans value cheap illegal labor over the application process it forces on people who obey the law. I encourage all Americans to support and encourage the immigrants in our country and the very best way to do so is by opposing illegal immigration practices.

Some state that America cannot afford to round up and deport all the millions of illegal immigrants in our country. They're probably right, and the good news is that America would not have to do so. This problem could be solved by more aggressive legislation and enforcement of anti-illegal immigration laws. If business owners are fined large sums and threatened with prison sentences because of this practice, they will quickly reconsider which method of employment is cheaper; a threat that should be backed up with undercover agents. Once owners get on board and start obeying the law, jobs for illegal immigrants will dry up and illegal immigrants will have to emigrate somewhere else to find work. If there is an employee shortage because of this, wages will rise and the "invisible hand" will ensure that employees are found to fills these jobs.

Finally, I hear many arguments that begin "but they are PEOPLE, you can't just-" Let's get down to hard facts: The world is becoming overpopulated and more people are going into poverty and starvation every year. America is a relatively wealthy nation with room for growth and naturally people will look to America as a place to go to provide for themselves and their families. How many such people can America support? 10 million? 100 million? 1 billion? Draw the line where you see fit, the point is that just because we have compassion for the poor does not mean we can save everybody from poverty by bringing them to our country. This saddens me, as I'm sure it does you but you cannot save a horde of drowning souls by placing them on a small boat; you'll lose both the boat and the doomed people. Compassion in this world is a worthwhile pursuit, but it must be tempered with the proper application of wisdom and foresight.

So what is everyone's opinion in regards to illegal immigration (in particular Mexico's Illegal Aliens)?

Did you know that two of the bastards responsible for 9/11 attacks came in through the Mexico border illegally? The other came from Canada.

I think it's a matter of National Security...

High-profile U.S. conservative Newt Gingrich apologized to Canadians last spring after telling Fox News: "Far more of the 9-11 terrorists came across from Canada than from Mexico."

In fact, none of the terrorists entered the United States from either country.

http://www.cbc.ca/cp/world/051220/w122094.html

And, from:

http://fl1.findlaw.com/news.findlaw.com/hdocs/docs/terrorism/911comm-ss1.pdf

As we know from the sizable illegal traffic across our land borders, a terrorist could attempt to bypass legal procedures and enter the United States surreptitiously. None of the 9/11 attackers entered or tried to enter our country this way.

This just proves, once again, that you're an ignorant fool that doesn't know jack shit about the things she attempts to debate about.

For your sake, and the sake of all of us, just stop talking... The lies you spread are damaging to our intelligence.

Also, you posted a picture of two missionaries...which I hope you weren't trying to tease about...considering the fact that these 19 year old men volunteer to serve missions, pay for it themselves, and spend more than 12 hours a day going door to door to teach about their faiths...

The difference is that Mormons are a prosperous people that haven't been the victims of genocide in the last hundred years.

The difference is that Mormons are a prosperous people that haven't been the victims of genocide in the last hundred years.

Do you know what did happen to the LDS people when they first started up?

In 1832 The Prophet Joseph Smith was tarred, feathered, and beaten by a mob who broke into the house where he was staying at Hiram, Ohio, an intrusion that led to the death of a child.

By early 1838, opposition, especially among Ohio leadership, grew to the point that the Prophet and loyal members moved to Missouri. (They were forced out of Ohio).

oseph Smith arrived with his family at Far West, Caldwell County, Missouri, in March 1838, where he sought once again to establish a gathering place for the Saints and to build a temple (see Missouri: LDS Communities in Caldwell and Daviess Counties). But, as before, the influx of outsiders with differing social, religious, and economic practices was unacceptable to the old settlers. Opposition flared into violence at Gallatin, Daviess County, on August 6, 1838, when enemies of the Church tried to prevent Latter-day Saints from voting. The ensuing fight produced injuries on both sides. A subsequent misunderstanding with a local justice of the peace led to charges against the Prophet. As rumors spread, citizens of several counties, then militias, mobilized to expel the Latter-day Saints.

The crisis came to a head on October 31, 1838, when Joseph Smith and several others, expecting to discuss ways to defuse the volatile situation, were arrested—it was the beginning of five months of confinement. A November court of inquiry at Richmond, Ray County, accused the Prophet and others with acts of treason connected with the conflict and committed them to Liberty Jail to await trial. Meanwhile, the Saints were driven from the state.

Harsh imprisonment made worse by forced separation from his family and the Church left Joseph time to reflect on the meaning of human suffering.

The following April, while being taken under guard to Boone County, Missouri, for a change in venue, the Prophet and his fellow prisoners were allowed to escape. Within a month of rejoining family and friends at Quincy, Illinois, Joseph Smith had authorized the purchase of land on the Mississippi River near Commerce, Hancock County, Illinois, and had moved his family into a two-room log cabin. During the summer of 1839, the Saints began settling their new gathering place, which they named Nauvoo.

Like many areas along the river bottoms, Nauvoo was at first poorly drained and disease-infested. During a malaria epidemic, the Prophet gave up his home to the sick and lived in a tent. Witnesses reported miraculous healing under his administration. "There was many sick among the saints on both sides of the river and Joseph went through the midst of them taking them by the hand and in a loud voice commanding them in the name of Jesus Christ to arise from their beds and be made whole" (Wilford Woodruff Diary, July 22, 1839, Ms., LDS Church Archives). Deaths were so frequent that a mass funeral was held.

On June 27, 1844, while in Carthage Jail awaiting a hearing, Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum were killed when a mob with blackened faces stormed the jail. The next day the brothers' bodies were returned to Nauvoo, where ten thousand Latter-day Saints gathered to mourn the loss of their Prophet.

Now, this is just The Prophet Joseph Smith...

Do you realize that LDS people had to walk all the way to Utah to settle here? Do you realize how many died? Sure, not as many as the Jews during Hitler's reign.

Anyways, don't talk about things you know NOTHING about.

In fact...just stop talking about my religion.

What kind of math are you using that makes 1844 within the last hundred yeas?

And it's absolutely absurd to compare the persecution of a few members of a newly founded religious sect to a full out genocidal campaign against a people who had been persecuted more or less constantly since they gave existed. The difference is that it took a relatively short amount of time for people to leave the Mormons alone The toughest thing they've had to deal with in recent history is people thinking their weird as fuck and people getting annoyed with them for bothering them in their homes. The Jews were never afforded that luxury.

And I'm simply stating that comparatively speaking they're like a piss in the ocean. Now of course that isn't to legitimize any persecution that Mormons have experienced. I believe that everybody should leave everybody else alone, and any persecution is a violation of that. What I take issue with is when people invoke the persecution of their religious forefathers as a sort of defense against criticisms and teasing of said religions contemporary members and practices. It's very similar to the middle school notion that you can't punch a kid with glasses. In the same way the kid with glasses is totally capable of being dick who might deserve to be punched, Mormons are totally capable of being annoying proselytizers who deserve to be teased. In this case the Mormon's early history of persecution is their proverbial glasses, and it is being taken completely out of any appropriate context to avoid being hit.
I guess my point is that if you want people to stop teasing Mormons, instead of saying "Boo hoo, a bunch of people I never met went though some tough shit 150 years ago," you should either prove the philosophical integrity of Mormonism or take active steps to stop them from being a bunch of creepy weirdos who annoy everybody else.

And on a related note, the LDS movement has racism and sexual repressesion ingrained in their theology, so fuck 'em.

I'm not using the pain, and suffering that my great, great, great grandfather, as well as the prophet Joseph Smith went through as a legitimate reason to not be persecuted. I'm trying to explain to you that my religion is sacred to me, and I feel that you should respect that...and move on. Keep the frivolous comments to yourself is what I'm trying to say.

Also, LDS pioneers died by the hundreds suffering and dying from disease, exposure, or starvation. There were some who, lacking wagons and teams, literally walked the 1,300 miles across the plains and through the mountains, pushing and pulling handcarts. In these groups, one in six perished.

You say that nobody should be persecuted...I think that you need a definition:

1. Worry, Badger, Vex, Bother, Pester.
2. To annoy or trouble persistently.
3. To pursue with harassing or oppressive treatment, esp. because of religion, race, or beliefs;

Earlier in your statement you declare:

"I believe that everybody should leave everybody else alone, and any persecution is a violation of that."

Then, in the closing portion of your argument you say:

"...you should either prove the philosophical integrity of Mormonism or take active steps to stop them from being a bunch of creepy weirdos who annoy everybody else."

I don't know about everyone else...but to me, being called "a creepy weirdo that annoys everyone" because of my religion, is a small dose of persecution.

It must really suck to be so contradictory.

I guess in a way it makes complete sense. After all, I bet everyone thought Jesus Christ was pretty weird; being a poor carpenter from Nazereth, that walked around calling himself the Son Of God.

I can guarantee that the Pharisees thought it was more than annoying when he would pick a fruit off a tree on Sunday, because they considered that working on Sunday. In fact, they would only let you take a certain amount of steps on Sunday. They thought he was so annoying, and weird...that they murdered him. Kind of funny how they killed Christ, and his apostles...and up until 1978 it was legal to kill a "Mormon" in Missouri. Yes, you could walk right up to them...slit their throat, and you wouldn't be charged.

'My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,' says the Lord.
'For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8-9

That perfectly explains the reason why African Americans were not allowed to have the priesthood until the 70's. Who are we to question what God wants?

Here's another quote for you:

"Yet you say, ‘The way of the Lord is not fair.’ Hear now, O house of Israel, is it not My way which is fair, and your ways which are not fair? When a righteous man turns away from his righteousness, commits iniquity, and dies in it, it is because of the iniquity which he has done that he dies. Again, when a wicked man turns away from the wickedness which he committed, and does what is lawful and right, he preserves himself alive. Because he considers and turns away from all the transgressions which he committed, he shall surely live; he shall not die. Yet the house of Israel says, ‘The way of the Lord is not fair.’ O house of Israel, is it not My ways which are fair, and your ways which are not fair? Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways,' says the Lord God." Ezekiel 18:24-30

Solid, no debate for me. Legal process. Never get me to budge off it. I've had close friends deported back to South America and Europe and it sucks, but the US already has its own population. (plus it gives me an excuse to travel) Flooding it with more mouths to feed and more people who need work is self destructive as a country. Plus I'd like to see the poor and hungry in less fortunate areas of the country helped before outsiders. I believe in taking care of your own first.

Ya know I just had a debate with someone about breaking the law and how you either follow a set of rules or you do not. And he said at what point is it OK to break laws? He asked me if I speed, and I said ofcorse I do. He asked if I jay walk, and I said ofcorse. Then he said by my own opinion I was a hypocrite and he is absolutely correct. I break laws everyday. So I follow the laws that I want to follow as well. But at some point moral judgement and common sense has to play into it. Do I have a point not really other than the fact that the laws I break are OK and the ones that I don't break no one should. LOL and I bet that is how everyone feels.

Pretend you have a diamond, the biggest diamond the world has EVER seen. I mean this baby is a huge, beautiful sparkling, piece of art. It's so amazing that when you see it your heart flutters.

Would you want to show it to your family, and friends? Would you want to post pictures of it everywhere so everyone can share the feeling that you get from staring at this miraculous rock?

Of course you would.

That is how I feel about my religion. I feel like I've discovered something so beautiful, and something that could potentially make you feel the way I feel. I have a burning desire to share this.

That is why people go on missions.

That is why I continue bringing up my religion, I'm hoping that I'll get some people interested enough to read more about Christianity...or The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints.

I've had one so far private message me asking about it...hopefully I can get more.

Polygamy is where men have more than one wife. Also, it is not apart of our religion. Some people that are polygamist claim to be L.D.S., but all of them have be excommunicated.

Rudy said it was good for the city, too.

It's actually hard to find a mayor of a large city that would agree with you. Illegal immigration actually is good for America. Immigrants work low-paying jobs that nobody else would care to do... They do cheap housework and remodeling... Just find one in front of Home Depot. This type of thing stimulates the economy by causing more people to seek out home remodeling (people that otherwise couldn't afford it or couldn't do it themselves), thus infusing more money back into random sectors of the economy (by them buying things at Home Depot, etc AND them paying people who then spend the money).

Immigrants work low-paying jobs that nobody else would care to do...

Unfortunately because they are illegally here they are paid under the table, thus preventing them from making minimum wage which isn't much to begin with. Which also causes those jobs to be undesirable. Further more they do not pay taxes. Not that I am in favor for the silly amounts of taxes we pay however If everyone would pay taxes including illegal immigrants perhaps my taxes wouldn't be so much. I mean after all I make too much to receive any benefits but not enough to live any better than some who does receive the benefits.

Well...because when my church first started out we were called "Mormons" because we believe in The Book Of Mormon.

Also, you posted a picture of two missionaries...which I hope you weren't trying to tease about...considering the fact that these 19 year old men volunteer to serve missions, pay for it themselves, and spend more than 12 hours a day going door to door to teach about their faiths...

Doubtful.

Like you said, they make such a little amount. In fact, on average, they probably make less than the minimum amount to pay taxes to begin with. Working 40hrs a week at minimum wage puts you JUST at the bottom of the tax brackets (with the recent minimum wage hike - previously you'd be right below it).

I know people who have been in poly relationships (and most times, this meant two people in a primary relationship bringing in a third person), and while they each enjoyed this choice for the most part, it had its share of drama and struggle and the relationships never lasted longer than a few dates (the goal was to have an actual relationship with among them) I dont think there's anything "wrong" per se, as long as it makes you happy, but its just not something i would like for myself.

If we were raised in the time of Abraham (the prophet) we would thing polygamy was completely normal.

It's only because of our culture that we think polygamy is wrong, or marrying twelve year olds is wrong.

Smooth, and I have different fathers. His father is from Iran...his father's mother was married at 12, and had a child at 13. This is completely normal in their country, just as it is normal for a large number of divorces in America.

To us stoning people is wrong...

To people in the Middle East, it is wrong that we desire material possessions (cd's, clothes, cars).

It's all about culture.

Kelsi, before you open your mouth you should get your facts right.
My Grandmother was not married at that age nor did she bare any children at the age you refered to.
How old was your (real) grandmother when she was first wed? Do you remember? How old was she when she bore her first child? Do you remember?

Shireen,

So you're PMS'ing pretty bad huh? Or is it that you haven't had your recent dose of drugs?

I was referring to Middle Eastern extremists that are insisting on annihilating everyone in the U.S.. Of course everyone desires materialistic things, but Islam extremists feel that Americans are to focused on them. If I were you I wouldn't talk about "knowing my ass from my face". Look at the things you've written in the past, YOU COULDN'T EVEN SPELL INTELLIGENT! You're putting Middle East as one word...I mean c'mon...

Look how immature you are...you sat there for a few weeks making comments about Mr.Jude being a "dirty Jew". You hate Jewish people, yet you've probably NEVER even met one before. You were trying to make Mr. Jude feel like shit by saying that his father molested him, and sodomized him. It's disgusting...you have no ground to stand on right now.

Also, I wasn't opening my mouth...I was typing...how can I be related to someone that is such an ignoramus? Try using dictionary.com, that way you can understand the words I'm using.

I was told by Rassule that your grandmother was married at, or around the age of twelve. What was it thirteen? I'm not trying to degrade her by saying this...you obviously can't read...or you just take everything so up the ass that you can't decifer between something that has NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU, and me making a completely logical point.

My grandmother from my father's side was married very young, and I have no problem with admitting that. She lived in the middle of no where, in a house with no windows...and doubtfully had access to any education. If you want to start talking shit about my grandmother, than you can officially fuck off as a sister.

Also, don't think that your going to 'hurt my feelings' by explaining that my father had another child when he was young. It's none of your business, and honestly...it's none of mine. If he chooses to share more information about him, then I'll listen...if not, I'll love him just the same.

Look Shireen, I don't get you...first you'll cry on the phone...and I'll listen like a loving sister. Then a few weeks later you'll come onto a silly web-site, and start saying things you'd NEVER say to me in person.

I know what it is...it's your mother. It's sad that she's gotten to you this much. Remember who you are...and what kind of person YOU wanted to be. Don't be like her Shireen.

You said Middle Eastern folks are greedy and materialistic, right?

Well, the proof is in the oil. Look at the way they horde it and sell it and some of those families become worth more than the GDP of the U.S.

Proves it's not just an American thing.

It's sad some people always need to use spell check.

I should have been more specific when I was speaking about Middle Eastern people. I was referring to Islamic extremists...sometimes I get ahead of myself on this site, in other words I type as if I'm talking to a friend that just simply "knows what I'm talking about".

My bad on that one.

It does completely defer from the point I was trying to make, which is that certain cultures believe certain things are normal...while others would think that the norm to someone else, is horrid.

"I don't agree with it" implies that you disagree with the idea.

That's what "agree" means... It means that you are okay with the idea. So "not agreeing with it" would say you are not okay with the idea. It doesn't apply just for your own purposes... It is a universal, generic term.

You need to be more specific.

"I agree with the idea, but it's not for me" would be specifc. "I don't agree" implies that you are completely against the idea. A pro-lifer would say "I don't agree with abortion", but a pro-choice person (whom wouldn't have an abortion themself) would say "I'm okay with abortion, but it's not for me".

You're amazing.

You're picking on how someone else writes?

isnt that what you were doing with me? picking on me for the way i wrote something? youre a piece of work.

Because he had reason to, but when it comes to me your just as bad

Im not denying the fact that my english vocabulary is mediocre, it is however high considering its not my first language as ive said before

i thought you weren't talking to me anymore?

whats all this about winning or losing? its not a game, its a discussion. nobody wins. i believe you might wanna go back and recall that you called me "stupid" for not liking some random pop band. why you chose to do this was anyone's guess, but i have a sneaking suspicion it was because you wanted to start shit for no reason.

i already said i wasnt making fun of your vocab, or your lack of experience in the english language. i was making fun of what you chose to insult me for. you think im "stupid and ugly" thats fine. i think youre stupid too, get over it. you post insults to me, but call me a hypcrite (the correct spelling, for future reference) for returning the favor. henceforth, i will not be responding to you in order to stop all this. its a waste of time.

I had reason to.

But you whined and complained about me doing it.

And now you turn around and do it to someone else... Amazing!

No, i dont call myself an Asswipe.

You just insulted me ME and yeah you insulted ME

Hipocrit, stupid, and ugly, your small pointy titties make me laugh

Happy you made me insult you

Why do we find it necessary to insult people's looks? Judging from Bunniegrave's pictures she is a beautiful girl.

Just because she may not have large breasts doesn't mean that she isn't beautiful.

Also, if she insulted you in a childish way...why not laugh it off instead of doing the same thing to her?

Why are you two arguing in the first place is the real question?
