I use a dartboard dart to put in the holes and stud them by hand.
That almost looks like a tazer. Tazers make temporary booboos, not permanent holding studs. :(

A dart's probably pretty all right for most leather jackets. I use a knife, but only because I'm used to working with thicker leather for armor, and that's what I always use for that.

I work with thick leather most of the time- I've done armor before as well, for a couple of Mad Max things.
The dart I use is one of the old fashion ones, it's solid metal, and extremely sharp. I've shot those into people's shoulders before, they go damn deep.

This post is going to be full of innuendos, but bare with me:

When you push the hole into the leather, if you want it larger, you have to rub the dart in and out against either side. It'll loosen and soften the hole up enough to wedge whatever you want in there, and it'll conform to it tight enough that it won't fall off or slide out easily.

Be careful, in certain parts of this country people kill, and eat small animals that looks just like that hat. You don't want your hat being killed and eaten....

In other parts of the country they just call animal control, and they toss the dead rodent back in the woods...

I seriously recommend using a knife specifically designed for it. Trust me, I've cut my hands MANY times putting studs in my leather jacket.

studs and spikes dot com is great for cheap spikes, but I know you can get at local novelty shops(but more expensive), they also got some cheap tools for poking holes in leather, which I didn't get, but regret, cause I cut myself, a lot, with very sharp, high grade knives, and I bled, a lot....

For patches, buy them directly from your favorite bands at local shows. Not only do you look cool, but you contribute to your favorite bands doing more shows by 1) advertising for them free 2) giving them small amounts of your money. It helps build a fan base which gets small bands off the ground.

paint - acryllic works best, local art shop is best bet.

And I don't remember any of it happening. But I most-clearly have a video of it. Hell, it's even on my MySpace videos section!

Seriously, is there a tutorial for how to make a punk jacket? I have made DIY clothes before, but I am really trying to figure out how to do a jacket. Leather's a whole nother ballpark and I want to make sure i'm not going to mess up an expensive jacket.

Yeah I just used scissors to put the holes and close the studs. It's more of a bitch andit hurts your fingers but eat's easier, as for patches sew'em or if you have embroid's iron'em

my jacket is thin leather and it's a piece of shit so i just took the studs, stuck 'em in, and turned the prongs.

as for patches. if you can't sew, i found hot glue works well!

Hot glue is complete shit...Only for noobs and poseurs.

If you can draw well, use Elmer's Painters Paint Pens...Works like a charm on leather and doesn't smudge or anything. For studs, poke them through and use a fucking knife or scissors (something sharp) to finish the hole, then fold them over.

Once you're done, take the jacket and stick it up your ass.
