Do you not enjoy Van Gogh's fruits and bowls, or paintings of fruits and bowls in general? I think he does a hell of a pile of fruit - if that's your bag.

I forgot to note this last night for the Van Gogh lovers... but if you get the opportunity to check out one of his paintings in person - I highly recommend it. You cannot do justice to the "texture" of his paint from a picture.
Van Gogh Museum Amsterdam (http://www3.vangoghmuseum.nl/vgm/index.jsp?lang=nl)
I had a chance to check this museum out about 15 years ago. If you can drag yourself out of a dope cocoon, it's worth the trip.
Or MOMA in NYC where Starry Night usually resides - though I see it is traveling a bit after mid January until June.
I couldn't tear myself away from this one...

I've never thought about skulls/skeletons that way but it really is an interesting thing to think about.
I like paintings and art on t-shirts because you have to know the art to get the shirt. Band shirts aren't the same because you can hear of a band and know it's a band. But art, the only people who know it's signifigance, know the art well.

That Kandinsky-esque cover Barney Bubbles did for The Damned is fantastic. If I had to pick a favorite painting, it would probably be one of Rembrandt's late self-portraits (1668, I think), all in gold on black or very dark brown ground. Rembrandt was almost always impressive, but there's something about this particular painting...his expression and the way he looks out at the viewer from the canvas. I think part of the man's soul is in there, and that it was a conscious act of transference.

He sure looks sinister!
You know, that's what I thought the first time I saw the painting. Then, the more I looked at it, I couldn't decide exactly what his expression conveyed. Years later, what I see on the ravaged face of Rembrandt is life experience: much of it sad, some of it possibly terrifying, but it hasn't broken him completely. It makes me think of "A Song from Under the Floorboards" by Magazine. :)

Well my two favourite artists are H.R. Giger and Salvador Dali.
This is definitely my favourite Giger piece.

My favourite Dali painting is probably Swans Reflecting Elephants.

I like this...they look like the grotesque, capering people in some of Goya's paintings.

I saw that exhibition live, and it was scary in a way art often not is. Mr Friberg also have one eye, the porxlin eye he can take out to amuse his audience.

I'm a huge fan of Alex Pardee's album artwork for many obscure musicians.
This is probably some of his best work. I'm not sure why I'm drawn to this...
