Any and all rap metal blows.

Thrash metal while there are some projects I liked is fucking pretty crappy. It is the white suburbanite version of rap as far as metal goes. Which also gave birth to the genre in my proceeding statement.

Techno blows.

House music blows.

Trance music blows.

Drum and Bass really fucking blows.

Yellowcard kills my ears.

Tenacious D makes me want to strangle the nearest person into the next life.

Disco was funny, bad but funny.

I'm done for now, expect more later.

I agree, Sublime was murdered by thier fan base.

Funny story about My Chemical Romance. My friend Iggy runs and owns the oldest punk rock store on the East coast called Two Tone. Almost cpmpletely sure the only still running shop since the 70's. He told me that either people from thier label or the band came to ask him to talk about My Chemical Romance and how they helped underground punkrock leaps and bounds in New Jersey for a documentary on the band. Iggys reply "who?". hahaha

hahaha that is HILARIOUS. i swear everyone in that band is like 19, they werent even around when punk started! any band now that comes out and screeches in my ear about their childhood is NOT keeping my attention for any longer than it takes to set their album on fire.

Well the sad thing is that they are around my age. Quite a few of my friends say they still know Gerard. Never really painted him as the underground enthusiast. More like one of those people that went to shows, hung around a bit, and would nod to the music a little, but never quite got the picture.

Yeah, unfortunatly I'm from the state that popped a majority of those bands out. All those bands are pretty much the same story as Gerard. Most of them are kids of rich yuppies that didn't fit in with the subculture. They basicaly blazed thier way into the music through thier parents money and connections. I'm sure you see plenty of that in Socal too.

I don't see how anyone can list any "punk" bands on a list like this. Think about how much asinine music there is out there. Off the top of my head, I'll go with Toby Keith and any/all rappers/hiphoppers whose lyrical content is limited to bitches & bling. I'll have to include Barbara Strisand also. I recently had a debate about who is the most over-rated musical artist in history and she won. She is wildly popular, yet I could not think of anything about her that is not completely awful.

I find Crass lyrics interestingly silly. The music is obviously intended to shove thier opinions down your throat like you don't have a mind of your own that processes. Yeah, I have listened to most of thier material. I was always more fond of the Subhumans or Dirt. What is so shocking about generalizing a majority when I left room for those who I wouldn't consider retards? In my opinion most Crass fans are well intentioned just logically immature. Hypocitrical? The ramones were great and helped make punk what it is today.

id have to disagree...Iggy and the Stooges made the sound, Ed Sanders coined the term "punk." Although some of their songs are good, anyone could have been The Ramones, they just happened to be in the right place, at the right time.

I gotta say, my biggest pet peeve with most "music listeners" these days is when 'scene' kids listen to screamo and call it Hardcore when they don't know any fucking actual Hardcore bands like DK's, Black Flag, Minor Threat, just to name the most obvious of the genre - these "scene' kids probably don't even know of those bands.

Oh and I also personally hate when people write "HxCx. But that's just my opinion..

The only genres I hate (not really hate but ignore) are: Prog Rock (mostly hated), Heavy Metal, Death Metal, Grindcore, any form of Metal, anything mainstream (screamo, and shitty techno dance hip-hop shit at the moment).. and thats about it...

Maybe they don't like the old style of hard core.

ImSoBoredWithTheUSA
08-19-2009, 07:49 AM
I think the "old style" is true Hardcore. Therefore, the new style should sound just like the "old style" or else it's not Hardcore. What they like obviously isn't Hardcore because it sounds nothing like Hardcore, its just screamo. I don't mind if they don't like the original Hardcore, I just get bothered when screamo gets called Hardcore. It gives Hardcore Punk a bad name.

Well, that's you. And you're wrong.

A genre can't be homogenized forever or it'll become stagnant, boring, and old. Genres have to slightly adapt to changing styles and tastes over the years or they become oudated. "Classic rock" could easily be called that because it never really changed after punk came out - it's outdated.

What they like obviously isn't Hardcore because it sounds nothing like Hardcore, its just screamo.

But to me "old" Hardcore should be called Hardcore not screamo since it's not Hardcore. These new bands sound like they're screaming their lungs in a girly whine in just one breath. To me "old" Hardcore is more like shouting. And I think you're right when you say a genre has to evolve in order to stay fresh. I just really think these new screamo bands shitted on Hardcore.

Hardcore is pretty old, just like punk. At this point, there have been so many sub-genres, it's hard to say that they "shitted on hardcore". They've taken hardcore and mixed so many other influences into it, that's all.

Yeah it's pretty old, & yeah they've pretty much mixed in just about every genre I hate in there (besides Hardcore Punk). You could tell lately they mixed in a bit of melodic metal, death metal, emo, and other shit I can't dance to. Whereas original Hardcore Punk, to me, is 100% danceable and I like it better :)

id have to disagree...Iggy and the Stooges made the sound, Ed Sanders coined the term "punk." Although some of their songs are good, anyone could have been The Ramones, they just happened to be in the right place, at the right time.

Do you have ears? And brain to think for yourself, do you have it? Banalizing the contribution of The Ramones to punk rock and to music in general like you seem to do is quite dumb. You obviously talk about what you donīt know and about what you canīt feel, maybe you heard that somewhere and because you have no fair intelligent judgement capacity of your own you go around saying ignorant rubish like this.

I do have ears, infact i used them to listen to the stooges, i then used my eyes to see that they were a band before the ramones. What i cant feel? You cant really advocate sex with 14 year olds, then try to sound deep, it just doesnt even out. Now, am i really the one with no judgement? How i see it, your opinion is that of what the masses believe.

Are you really going to sit there and say that no one else could have been in the ramones position? Im not bashing them, they have musical talent, i wont deny that. And yes, they did infact carry punk rock to the forefront, i never denied that either. However, they couldnt have been the only band in america that was able to fill the position, they just happen to be the lucky ones. Im not really sure why this even needed to be addressed, clearly youre the one with no brain.

I think, like many people, you overstate the importance of The Ramones. Sure, they were important and big, etc, etc... But they were nothing special. As he said, ANYBODY could've been The Ramones. They weren't great musicians and they were average (or ugly) looking guys. Anybody could've done that... They just happened to do it first.

Thatīs one of the Punk Rock conquests, you donīt have to be a "great musician" in the "virtuousity" sense to have musical creativity and to pass on to others the joy of making music...and you surelly donīt have to own a pretty face ( except in the case of Paul Simonon LOL). The heartbeat speaks for itself, no artificial ingredients. Thatīs my opinion.

Well, I was expecting the "14 year" shit. :D
I advocate now the cause of you being a total predictable fail.

I love the music of the Ramones, wich is so simple that is genious. No coincidences, being in the right place at the right time isnīt for everybody.

i certainly hope you wouldnt expect anything less, youre absolutely grotesque. Being in the right place at the right time isnt for everybody? That situation is a matter of luck, and not much more.

The Ramones are pretty untalented at playing their instruments and writing songs. Their songs are basic and their lyrics are pretty simple. Lots of bands could sound like that.

But, like dazed and I have been saying, they just happened to be lucky - in the right place at the right time - so they got recognized.

You really are thick headed arent you? So based of your "logic," had you been in there place, it would all be due to your skill, and have nothing to do with two essential items taken from others? You seem to not realize that, had there been no stooges, the ramones wouldnt have had a sound to use, had the term "Punk" not been coined, they would have just been "Rock." Again, your are near retarded, im not saying they are untalented, only that their talent has been hyped far past what it actually was.

"Ah ah thatīs the most idiot statement Iīve ever read." Hopefully you see the humor in this.

I donīt think they were untalented, on the contrary. For example Dee Dee is probably the "fatherbasis" of punk rockīs bass playing main style ( chronologically, playing like that I only know of Ron Asheton when he picked up the bass on Raw Power or perhaps Killer Kane too).

Had them stay at my house a few years back, they're nice people too! Took them record shopping they bought a load of old vinyl like Bow Wow Wow 7". Not a massive fan but they've done some good live shows.

my thoughts exactly. discrediting bands and musicians who influenced music in general? Ric, perhaps some peeps never picked up an instroment, therefore easy to discredit.
I wasnt goin to list them but I changed my mind. Some of the were already mentioned as "suckin" or the "worst"
Elvis
Ramones
Beetles
Crass
were all mentioned and oddly they all have a huge part of musical hystory because of there controbution, lyricaly, musically as well as there "pr" antics.
These people will be and have been remembered long after we are all gone for what them have done for music and some cases for the world as a whole.
Critics almost always have no real hands on involvement with what they are judging.
