Carrying on from the "Pistachio Dessert Pie Thing" thread....I was wondering what your opinion on high fructose corn syrup was? In the last two weeks or so I've noticed an ad on T.V. defending "hfc" and it directs you to a web site. Here is the site adress: www.SweetSuprise.com
I personally think hfc is very bad for you and may be a factor to our nation's rising obesity rate. Here is an anti hfc website: http://www.modro.org/highfructose/
So...what do you think...is it safe, or should we try to get it removed from all of our food products in our country?

I haven't looked at the websites, but doesn't this go against the 'I don't want the government telling me what I can put in my body' attitude?
If it's truely 'unsafe', then it potentially should be banned or restricted, like other toxic chemicals. If it just makes you fat, then shouldn't it be a personal choice as to whether or not you consume it?

I personally would like to see cocaine added back into coke and the corn syrup removed.

I try to avoid HFC. I was even able to find tonic water with cane sugar instead of HFC, so now it doesn't enter my body at all. Also, I second JRS on the cocaine thing.

I just got a very long lecture on this from my friend's mom when I was in Oregon on my vacation. Of course, I had just woken up after a long night at the bar and then a bonfire after. So I didn't give a shit. :D
