So Why the hell does new music suck so much. All of my music collection that is worth a damn is atleast 15 years old or older. Have I finally gotten old or does new music really suck. God I hate new music.

Your kid is probably going to say the same thing once he is pushing 30. His favorites will be what all us "older" people think sucks.

actually lately I've been thinking kind of the opposite, most of the stuff I've been listening too is from the 90s or 2000s.

You're not getting old, Punk Rock is! Christ, The group members of Punk Rock bands are way older than we are; they started out in the late '70s and early to mid '80s. We were just kids when they were already adults.

I agree, this new stuff (Modern Rock) isn't as good as Punk Rock was, but this is an entirely new generation of music. Even the 1990's grunge music had a better beat than this new stuff.

My computer has over 5000 songs on it. I think about 2000 are from before 1985, and then another 2000 are probably from 1992 to present. The other 500 account for those weird seven years between 85 and 92 when not much of value was made.

Yeah I don't understand how people consider these MTV bands to be any good, the only modern punk bands i consider good are Refused, Sick Of It All, NOFX, Mindless Self Indulgence and Angry Amputees. Everything else I like is 70s-80s... Bad Brains are releasing a new album in 4 days though..

Seriously? Refused is rad, Sick Of It All is good, NoFX is meh, MSI is fucking awful, and I won't even bother with Angry Amputees. If you think modern punk rock sucks, then you need to listen to modern punk rock. Obviously you haven't delved into it deeply enough.

New music has always sucked. The reason older people think older music is better is because we only remember the good shit and not all the aweful stupid shit that was popular back then. Certain trends in new music are a little suckier-- from the mid 90's to the present day the corporations have been pushing younger and younger kids with more and more prefabricated overproduced insipid music.
In general I find that 90% of mainstream music sucks so bad I could vomit.
It makes me mad-- and punk has always been the antidote to that. Punk has always been a reactionary movement for people who could not take any more garbage that didn't rock.
Now, just as back in the day, you will find your most brilliant artists among the "undiscovered" people in the underground. The majority of people who are in small, unknown bands make up most of the new music I listen to.
I like new music, when I can find it. I liked new music 20 years ago, when I could find it. Its all the same.

punk rock...hardcore punk...straight edge, whatever the label hardcore and punk is big business these days.these independent labels like epitaph and fat wrechords are a serious business....thats why 1980-85 was the best times and bands ever...it will never be the same
