Saw some volleyball, swimming, and baseball.

Pretty cool.

The only time where I will not question you flying the american flag. Our athletes need our support!

i'm not watching the olympics simply because of the human rights policies
in china.
they were clearly asked to revise these policies before the Olympics
and did not.
I mean, i certainly support the atheletes, but do not approve of the great poltical undertones of the event.

Nope. Watching sport is nothing I care about. Nor doing sport. Nor any kind of physical exercise.:D

And in 4 years it's going to be held 10 miles from my front door. I voted against it. Oh, hold on, no I didn't. They didn't give us a vote on it. Just gonna put up our taxes to pay for it whether we want it or not.

I've been watching it here and there.
China really fucking dropped the ball with everything. They didn't fix their human rights policies, they didn't make much of an effort to reduce air pollution, the whole fiasco about that poor little girl who sang not being pretty enough to appear on TV and the apparent lying they've been doing over their gymnastics team.

Which went largley unchallenged by the US government because of our debt to China and our addiction to their cheap imports......

In other words, China can fuck off, I'm tired of being bent over by them.

It's funny how much attention that's got, where was the media when it was time to report on human right's violations?

They did report on it. Years ago. Nothing has changed. Nothing new to report.

Now, unattractive little Chinese singers - that's a ratings booster.

No, I meant that once Beijing was rewarded the Olympics it seemed as if there was an effort by many outside of China to improve the perception of China. Mostly I think to preserve the goodwill that the Olympics attempt to premote.

But it's not just that, we have Americans jumping ship to play for other countries, the Olympics as far as I'm concerned are just another tainted sporting event that is severly lacking in integrity.

This is true - the Olympics have this historical image of bringing different countries together to compete in a peaceful, honerable way, through athletic competition. In spite of the fact that today that's more illusion than reality, there is a global effort to portray China as a 'gracious host' in the spirit of the games.

I do agree that it's odd that some Americans are playing on other countries teams though. It's one thing if you're originally from that country, but it's another thing if your playing for a country because your great-great-grandfather emigrated from there. As with any sporting event, it's all about money and prestige, just on a global scale.

But to address the original topic, I don't have much interest in the Olympics, or sports in general, but I've watched a little. Primarilly Women's Beach Volleyball, since the US team are two local girls.

I do have to admit, seeing Michael Phelps win that seventh Gold tonight was intense. He won by a hundreth of a second. It was nuts.

I like this commentator, I tell people "i buy Chinese products" i'm looking for a Chinese mfg.ed scooter currently.
If you want to make people behave themselves buy their products, the govt here can screw with their import taxes to make them change, The Olympics is good fun, I'm angry as hell that ESPN went "sour' (they only show football now- a-days) ESPN used to show exotic sports of all kinds, it was amazing entertainment,
Now the Olympics is the only real sports entertainment on TV. IM "ANGRY" that they don't show many of the events and "i think the entire thing should be stretched out over many months so that all the events can be televised.
AGAIN: someone comment on my C band satellite post on sports forum.

Every four years the olympics comes up with new racist jokes...against other countries. And it's totally ok cuz you are routing for your team! Obviously americans are butt hurt sensitive to racist issues but overall I've heard some fucked up shit come out of brazilians and koreans mouths describing other countries. Several racist slang terms were coined during olympics years. (which I will not list here)

Let the games begin!

What I want to know is... why does May-Treanor look hotter when she's playing, and Walsh looks hotter when she's doing Letterman?
