View Full Version : the brilliance of *BLOCK*

The website needs users to be able to block each other so they at least can stop certain users messaging them, would be even better if it cut them out in groups and the forums aswell.
I know it's not something that can just be done, but following recent events might not be such a bad idea, otherwise people may leave following a outbreak of troll.

As Sue Bunny Pointed out, yes there IS a block feature. The pros are if you use it the person you have blocked doesn't have access to your profile page, can't request you as a friend, can't send you a PM or comment on a blog.
The down side is they CAN comment on what you post in the forum.
(I'm not sure if they are blocked from joining a group that you may have formed though)

Generally speaking, if someone has a problem with another user on the site, it's between those two people, and doesn't necesarilly need to be dragged out into the public because the underlying cause is usually nobody's damn business.
If that's the case, the person who feels they're being harassed should try to deal with it themselves, by using the block feature, tightening the security on their profile, etc. If that isn't enough to address the problem, contact an admin for information and assistance. Just complaining openly about it, whether or not names are named, will accomplish nothing.
In Pete's case its an issue that started in the forums, and then the person started going after him outside of them. Since it started as a public issue, he probably just assumed everyone knew who he was talking about.

He is not harassing me, I just don't want to read his ongoing facist bullshit anymore.
it's that simple, i don't understand where everyone got this harassing idea from.

I realize that. I was responding to Raven's implication that people are being harassed and should be publicly outing them.
I know what your issue is. Sadly there's always bullshit. At least you can be sure that if he comes back he'll be delt with.

I agree, publicly outing them will let them know they are getting to you and make it worse, i can give as much as i get EASILY, not a problem, however there is a point where it gets old, boring and pointless, that point has come with scum bag, his views are burnt into his brain and nobody is going to change them. He is a lost cause and needs to be ignored until he goes away.
He is not causing me any problems what so ever, its just boring and i come here to talk to people i actually like and respect not fight with a facist, i just wanted to block him out so i could actually see some "real" topics so to speak.
I am big enough and ugly enough to look after myself thank you very much :-p

One thing positive I can say about Facebook is this: if you block someone on there, you don't exist to each other. I have Safetypin Sam blocked on there & when he interacts with JRS, I can't even see his posts. Of course, when JRS directly responds to him, I can tell he posted, but it's like overhearing a phone conversation where you only get one side. I doubt StevieB could afford that kind of coding for this site, but maybe it'll make it onto the list of things he'd like to add.

Please disregard my response. I had you confused with scum bag's girlfriend's profile, and you've been posting here long enough that I should've known better.
