I'm not that knowledgeable on the subject, but does this site not use it? And, if it does why doesn't it refresh itself? Just curious.

Google "Javascript" for more info.

It doesn't mean much to me though. I can read it, but it still doesn't tell me a lot.
I'm just curious as to why the site has to be manually refreshed.. is it more secure that way or something?
I'm ignorant.

The site uses javascript in certain places where it's needed. The input and comment boxes, activity stream, slideshows, and chatbox all use javascript.
Most sites don't auto-refresh - particularly forums. I'm not sure why you would want it to - I personally can't stand when I'm trying to read a page and it suddenly refreshes itself, but that's just my opinion. In any case it's not generally done unless it's appropriate to a site, and it isn't done here.

Ah, ok. I was wondering about inbox msgs/comments/etc.. how you don't know you have them until you go to another page of the site/refresh the one you're on.
