this album came out late 2009? their first album in 5 years since Rollercoaster in 2004. for a band being around forever with the same members they have gone thru changes in music style like most bands. of course nothing is gonna be as good as the stuff they put out in the 70's but this album you can tell they still have the same style. i'm a huge adicts fan so this review will be in their favor. i'm not sure if this album is on vinyl but it's defidently worth picking up! lots of fast 8th note drumming, good rhythms.. i'll break it down song by song.
1. spank me baby - for an intro song this makes it seem like the album is gonna suck. it's an alright song but nothing special kinda slow.
2. i love you but don't come near me - the pace picks up a bit and a good song.
3. reaky deaky boys and girls - a slower song, pretty catchy lyrics, some girls doing back up vocals. pretty good song for being a bit slower.
4. i'm not scared of you -
5. over there - one of the better songs on this album. fast 8th notes, catchy lyrics about being happy.
6. the whole worlds gone mad - it doesn't seem often that the adicts say "fuck" in their songs, took me by suprise when i heard em say it. good guitar leads
7. gangster - a chill different song then the rest. lots of instruments, pianos. kinda reminds me of a long drive thru the desert.
8. we aint got a say - a bit slower song. they don't have too many songs that talk about politics, they aren't trying to prove a point on any sides just pointing out how much stuff sucks in this world today and if we stick together we can have a say. it's not the best song on the album
9. full circle - my fav song on this album. alot faster paced, reminds me of the older songs. lots of cool little rhythms thru out it, has a cool into too.
10. mr. dice man - another song with some girls doing back ups. a bit slower of a song. the drums just sound really solid on this song, a overall good song tho.
11. tune in, turn on, drop out - another one of my more fav songs on this album. again this song reminds me of the older ADX songs. i really like the lyrics to this song overall just a really good song.
12. mr. hard - starts out with a piano, then they just start playing a weird little beat. the guitarist sings this song. it's alot slower kinda reminds me of a lounge song, talking a bit about clockwork, sipping cock tails, dancin with a cane. i had to listen to it a few times before i really started to like it. good extra track but not a highlight.
13. life goes on - this is the only song they have been playing live lately from this album. reminds me of the first song alot. slow song with alot of big back ups, lots of la la la's, it's an outro song then a pause for a few minutes. then they repeat the song "gangster" again but with no lyrics? not sure why they did this, again i just feel like i'm on a long drive in the desert
i'll give this album a 8/10 just cause i'm a huge adicts fan and they can never disappoint me. pick it up if you can find it at a decent price but paying $15 for this album probably isn't worth it.
