I have made a belt just recently. for my extra pair of leather pants. and I made a jacket with studds as well. the problem is that these studds are really expensive to buy here. and therefor I look for ways to design stuff using less amounts of studds as possible.

the belt is such design.

how do you save the studds or other more expensive items when making stuff. I make a lot of things in leather.belts. wallets. medicine bags like you see native americans use. repiar of jackets or pants in leather. anything in leather really. recent item I made apart from the belt is a strap for my guitar.

btw.
no spoiler tags here on forums so I can hide the picture a bit , or is it me that cant make such tag work if you have spoiler tags here. ?

I always take a butter knife and lightly pry the prongs apart on the back of the belt, and then just slide it out. that's what works for me.

Check out http://www.studsandspikes.com/

they have some really cool stuff for cheap. As in, a bag of 100 studs for four dollars and whatnot. Those are some pretty big studs, so you might have to do some searching.

Carsten doesn't live in the US so I'm guessing the customs fees could be a lot.

thanks but I just made the belt. I was more interested in how others design the things with studs to not use too many of them.

I cant buy online from england or US and save on small amounts of studs .

I am not going to use too much studs when making leather work in the future either. I am making lots of things in leather but usually keep things as simple as possible. and in buckskin usually or cowhides from Denmark.

ususally a tool to punch holes with and a scissor is all I need to make something useful. studs are only something I will use on specific items mostly because both price and the design of my things is not really studded materials for the most part.

to not use to many studs and still make it look good would be more clever thing to do that spending more on these shiny things that the jacket itself cost as example. they are really expensive and thats properly the reason I never wear studded items before . .
