Doing sound at a show for a now defunct band called Film School. They had a booking agent, a ryder full of goofy demands, and no idea how to perform a proper, competent sound check.

It wasn't so much the job itself as it was the boss, and the people I had to deal with. It was 25 years ago, and I had been hired to take down statistics for a government study on juveniles being tried as adults. At first I was assigned to Cook County Jail where EVERYBODY copped an attitude! The security guard ALWAYS glared at me every fucking morning! You could SEE the daggers shoot out of his eyes. Then there were the people who ran the records department, and ANY time somebody's records were filed incorrectly, guess who they blamed? (If you guessed Adam J. Rebelius, step to the front of the line) After two weeks of this I had enough and requested a transfer to Juvenile Hall. EVERYTHING was different there. Everybody smiled, said good morning to me, offered to assist me if need be. I basically got fired from this job because of the project co-ordinator's incompetence! (I NEVER should've been let go!) well, karma's a bigger bitch than my last girlfriend. He got fired one month after he fired me, because he squandered the government grant money and fucked up the WHOLE study!

I briefly worked as a telemarketer. It was really horrible.

I had several jobs when I was a social woker with impaired bosses. One drank like a fish on the job and kept delegating all his work to me to do. The other had a husband who drank like a fish and tried to take it out on me. Then there was the one working with sex offenders, which was awful - every day I got home from the job I felt like I had to shower in lysol because I felt so icky from working with them. (That's also the one where I was injured on the job, filed for worker's comp and was fired, which is suppose to be illegal to do.)

I've had some really horrible film jobs too. On one feature, I was the 2nd unit DP (director of photography) and the first unit DP didn't like me and kept losing camera gear then blamed me for it. (He also apparently sabatoged some of the footage I shot in an attempt to get me fired.) Then there was the out of state feature where the steadicam operator cut a deal with production so he got paid and I didn't, plus he got DP credit for the work I did (I'm still not listed on the IMDB for that film.) Finally there was the horror flick I shot a couple of years ago where I'm still owed $1400 because the diretor/producer lost financing and didn't bother to tell anyone and instead opted to write everyone bad checks.

I worked at a Fotomat for about a year and a half when I was a teenager.

For those of you too young to remeber them, imagine sitting in a 3 foot square area in a kiosk in the middle of a parking lot for 6 hours a day, while people drove up and dropped off and picked up pictures all day.
http://farm1.static.flickr.com/32/59812776_6af6256eb9.jpg

In reality, it wasn't a horrible job. No annoying co-workers, limited contact with management, and when I got really bored I would take my rolling chair out into the parking lot and do laps around the building.

The company is gone now, but a lot of the kiosks still exist, around here at least. Of course, most of them are either drive-thru cigarette shops, or locksmiths now (I have no idea why they're so popular with locksmiths, but they are).

wendy's hands down. You wouldn't belive how many high, drunk, irrational and violent people use the drive through. I got spit on and got a drink thrown on me. One pretty little girl, around 15 or 16, got pulled through the window and punched. My boss was a huge bitch and critized me everyday. One guy I worked with said sexual things to me on a daily basis, and grabbed my ass while I was holding a very hot container of chilli causing me to spill it all over the floor and got fined for it. The teenage girls I worked with texted on the phone instead of doing their jobs so I always had to work fast and hard enough to make up for them, they stole my ciggarettes out of my purse, spilled drinks on my jackets.. Ohh I could go on and on and on.

damn dude thats lame. im probably one of those annoying fucks thoe. but i usually just act like a redneck and order freedom fries and when they say my order back to me and say french fries i yell at them and tell them their unamerican and ask them if theyve even heard of toby keith. the people usually laugh thoe. i knew a girl that worked fast food and she got fired cuz a guy pulled up to her window cranking it right in front of her so she poured hot coffee into his lap

Ask away, I am an opened book. They were a My Bloody Valentine type of band. I don't remember exactly what kind of stuff was in the ryder but I remember having a laugh about it with the show's promoter because we had much bigger bands come through who required far less and were more down to earth as people. During the sound check, the Film School guys would whisper to each other and then send the guitarist up to talk to me about the sound in the monitors and so forth which was odd because the three doing all the whispering had vocal mics right in front of them. I guess they were too bashfull to deal with a sound engineer, yet touring and playing in front of people was no problem for them. A year latter Dave (the guitar player) was back to do another show with his new band which was a much smoother operation. I guess it's not the worst job I've ever had but it was the first one that came to mind.

I worked in the toy department for 2 years in a row at a MIdwestern, bastardized version of Wal-Mart. I was hired a few days before the holiday season started. I quit two years later, due to a boss who was just a bully. I felt like i couldn't do anything without him controlling everyon'es every move. I sprained my ankle, and he called me at home to tell me I needed a doctors note. Well, I found out that this was against the union rules, and employee policy. I'm not the only one that quit when the new regime came in.

A few years later, I worked for a week as an appoitmnet setter. I was fired after a week, and it was no fault of my own. All I had to do was try to make at least one sale, and I made one sale on my second day. Well, getting fired was a good thing becasue several months later, the company I worked for folded. It wasan Internet start up.

thats exactly how mine was. my boss was an ex army brat, sexist to. my employees sexually assaulted me several times, it was even on camera, and he did nothing about it. he would make us sign out for lunch but work throu it so it would show up on the computers that we were getting breaks. my entire crew smoked cigarettes and we denied a smoke break our entire shift *which during season lasted anywhere from 8 to 12 hours* it was absolute hell. i quit after he fired my supervisor just fer being a lesbian
