Well, this last Monday I put together a private show for my family, really close friends and co-workers. This was at a really small restaurant in Costa Mesa called La Cave. The place has a small private room that holds 45-50 people.

These bands are not punk bands by any means. They are more indie/rock. I have been following both Xanimo from the Inland Empire and Dead Sara from Los Angeles since 2008. I am a fan of both these bands and they are both so good live. I really wanted to get them both on the same stage and play a show for me. It was not an easy task because of their busy schedules but I made it happen.

Xanimo (http://www.myspace.com/xanimo) has been around for like 7-8 years. The remind my of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs mixed with the Suburban Lawns. Great vocals and some really poppy stuff in there. The band came out with some melodic music and my friends really enjoyed them as I knew they would.

Dead Sara (http://www.myspace.com/deadsara) was on next. They have been around since 2005. They are pretty much my favorite band right now! They started off with a song called Sorry for it All (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrgO-rZ1BY0). The whole place was captivated in a trance as guitarist Siouxsie Medley and singer Emily Armstrong poured their heart and soul into the song. Then they kicked off into some rock tunes that came close to sounding like Rage Against the Machine. As always they totally kicked ass and everyone wanted more. All in all this show is my favorite for 2010. Please check both these bands out.

Just want to say that both bands were excellent - particularly Dear Sarah. It was a little loud being a small space, but both bands had a cool indie sound and I enjoyed them thoroughly.

Thanks again for the invite. We'll be looking out for both bands in the future.

Hey, it was great to see you two. Dead Sara has had a lot of hype/labels/agency etc after them a while back... so, they are at it again to try and bring it all back. My ears were hammered after that show! haha... I am trying to get them a gig at the galaxy and also the HOB. be nice to hear them in a large venue
