The golden compass comes out next month. Its based on a book by phillip pullman called northern lights. its part of a trilogy called the his dark materials trilogy. i have read them and they are fucking awesome. It seems to be pissing off some right wing christian types which is amusing.

the little blurbs I've seen about it make it look really cool. It's going to be another of those "visual extravaganza" flicks which honestly, is ok with me. There aren't enough awesome looking movies coming out lately.

Well the books sort of convey a message that you shouldn't swallow everything religion throws at you. So Christians view this as a knock against Christianity even though they've never read the books.

But the books are awesome. Hopefully the movie will be too.
