Just wanted to know if im the only one with no other punks like in my area. Im really the only punk in my school and my town. shows around here have like no people, I saw big D, bad manners and the beat, maybe 9 people in the skank pit. most of the people there where old guys (including my dad). except this guy i see at like every show, his names ska billy and he always skanks with me. he like wreaks of liquor everywhere, he went to warped tour, i was talking to him, he drank a bottle of whiskey in the parking lot. good guy. But whatever im getting carried away, yeah, am i the only one whos the only punk?

I'm npt the pnly punk in Chi-Town, but I think I may be the only one that's 45. I haven't seen any of the old timers in AGES. Of course the Effigies and Life Sentence still play out every once in a while, but when I go to show, it's all kids. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but sometimes I'd like to find someone my age so us old farts can talk about the good old days. (Or not. I don't know anymore and I'm not sure I even Care)

there's a lot of punks around her... I just don't get along with most of them because they mostly concist of 16 year old alcoholics who get together, call them selves a crew, and try to start shit with people. I eventually stopped going to shows around here because i got sick of dealing with them.

There's not many punks in Nashville, where I usually hang out. The only time I see them is when the Murder Junkies or the Queers come through, but even then, they're still pretty lame and drunk, while I'm around jumping on people and having a grand old time!

As much as you say "like", I could have sworn you were from SoCal. Hahaha! Seriously. I say that a lot still.
I guess there are punks around here too. Most of them are half my age, which is fine, but somewhat creepy at the same time. Then some are older... out of those I love some and still talk to...some could rot in hell for all I care.

I don't see many around anymore on a daily basis though, since there aren't any venues left in the area.

I have Terri, and we tear it up pretty good, I guess. It sucks that we are the only ones in our age group. We had one other friend, but he's in a hospital right now in another city, so, it's just the two of us. Occasionally we get a few punks trickling in from the county, but not often enough. What happened to the punk shows? I don't want to listen to just hardcore all the time!!! I want to riot!!!idiot*(

there are some, but not many. meanwhile i know all of them being friends (more or less) with most of them, sometimes i wish i could go out and meet someone completely new. but well, could be muuuch worse.

haha, i hate them. i think they eixist everywhere- especially in bigger cities...i mostly see them when i go to shows or friends in nuremberg because thatīs the nearest city for me. the ones there mostly dont have anything to do except of begging. and then they call you a poser because you just bought ice cream or so and real punks can afford ice cream. they must homeless fuckers spending all their money for booze, having patches from bands they havent heard for years etc,
ok these are a bit different from yours, but still...

No crews around here. The times I go to shows it's either with one of my bandmembers who's a die-hard hip-hop listener.
I got one mate who's a punk, his name is Rowdy, but we call him Grüber (the first time he came in he was with another guy called Hans, which reminded us of a scene in Eurotrip).
I got some mates who like punk up to a certain level, so most of the time I'm on my own in my statements :D

Anyways, I don't really care being pretty much the only punk around.

I live in Southern Cali and that didn't seem to help. Most of the shows I've gone to, there are only about 6 or 7 people there. The all ages shows get a good amount but that's only around 20 people. I know "punks" are running around but they're hiding pretty well...

When i lived in aberdeen there use to be quite a few punks kicking but never seem to catch up with anyone anymore which is a bit shit. Gigs are almost non-exsistant as its just not worth the bands traveling up this far and being honest i don't even know one local punk band still playing.

There's a lot of punks where I am in East London...well, all of London really. Old school die-hards, youngsters, people who left the scene but have come back.....

The only problem is there's a lot of Streetpunk/Oi stuff and I find most of it....limited and limiting.

But, of course, 'cause it IS London every punk comes here sooner or later to see the bigger bands. Like all major cities.

I usually go out of London to smaller towns or other cities where I know they have a punk contingent AND decent beer. Like Glasgow, Birmingham, Dublin or Ipswich or....

Anywhere but here really.

A few punks here... Sod punk gigs, ska is where it's at! Last gig i went to i saw some punks all headed to another gig, i felt the need to shout at them from across the street. Plenty of chavs aswell, just kids who live in council houses and can somehow buy an entire wardrobe of designer clothing from Gillingham market. Lots of emos aswell, especially down rochester all having picnics and stuff... Really sick atmosphere though. Improve on it by gearing up and staring at them, while making sure they can see yer boots. Good fun haha.

Also true. Haha I guess there's an upside and a downside to everything though. From the people I've met here, seems like the majority of punks are pretty chilled out about what other punks say/do/listen to/believe. If there are any Brisbane QLD Australia punks here, hit me up :)

And che, ditto that. I don't even know where the good gigs are in my city - sucks.

Yea, but the good thing is your in Austrailia, and I heard most are pretty chill there...unless Im wrong...but still, considering Im sure the punks there would be pretty chill.

Most of the ones here are the ones I was talking about, judgemental assholes. If you dont look like them or play "hardcore punx rawk" then they treat you like you dont belong. I got fed up with that shit.

im in ottawa canada , and the suburb i live in has a realy weird grouping of subcultures , in summer 08 i saw a realy big group of ''rockers'' so thats, goths and punks that would always hang togeter, then there would always be bigger groups of 'thugs' out and about,so id say in that summer i only saw 20 diffrent punks in my area, and in summer 09 only about 5 at the most....and that was the summer i realy started to have the ''punk look''

Nah dude I know exactly what you mean. Where I'm from all you find is goths and emos. There are punks here but most of them are skate-punks. There aren't too many true blue through-and-through punks around here anymore. Punk's not dead but everyone around here seems to think it is. Well, what do you do though right? All my mates are still punks and we have a fairly good scene in Nottingham and the rest of the Midlands. You soon get to know punks from around the world when you start going to gigs, it's relatively small in some areas but you're part of a much bigger community. If there's not much happening where you live, move. That's what I did.

Aren't really all that many punks round here and none of my mates are. Don't really mind cos then they don't have a go at me for liking something that isn't "punk" but would be cool to have mates to go to gigs with and not have to get dragged to cheesy pop nights if i wanna go out. I live in Atlanta Ga and we get good shows here and there, but our local scene died almost completely. Most of the punk scene is now in the burbs.

So I was reading through all of this again, and I'm not going to lie, a lot of you people sort of bothered me. Punk is not dead anywhere, and if you think it is, do something about it. How many of you claimed to be the only punk in your town? Now, of that group, how many of you actually did something about it? I only read one, and kudos to him. A scene is only what you make of it, and if your done trying, maybe it's time you leave.

I live in Clinton, CT. There are only Hot Topic scene kids. My cousin is only into punk for the look and has been copying me. I'm into punk for the music. I only have a DIY jacket and vest, so I'm slowly going into the look.

no , youīre not. here in Bolivia in this city im alone (ive heard about some anarchopunk movements around this city but theyre very ignorant and stupid for what ive heard, and nothing i want to get associate with, never met one of em though). i am not an anarchist by the way.
and then in the same country, in a different city i have my two buddies (Suicidal Punk) and his twin bro, thats it.
i have seen Big D too, the only punk/ska band i ever seen, when i spent one night in Boston, one of my best nights. because here you just dont find punk shows, its all metal and hard rock.

not many here in Durham, NC. most of the people here are "ghetto" as they call themselves. They would be the majority, well them and preppy people. there's some metal heads, and emos (they can get rather annoying with their whining) and very very little punks. I dont know any punks that live here but I know there are some one of my friends is friends with one but i've never met him in person

There's like, four or five in Schenectady, NY. Loads of Crusties in the next city over, Albany, whom I hang out with occasionally but they're fucking drunk assholes. I usually just hang out with my friend Bianca, whom likes Hardcore and Grind, my friend Susan, who likes Rancid and Bouncing Souls, and my friend Tall Matt, who listens to Pop punk and Ska.

Slim pickings around here, but not too awful.

There's probably quite a few punks where I live, but I hang out with a lot of ska kids and they're cool so I'm content with that

To the Aussies, I can sympathize with you, I used to live in Sydney and it's all swoopy haired kids into metalcore. Nothing against them, nice people, but it's just not the same

To be honest, none of my best friends are punks. Most punks around here are just all for the fashion and call them selves anarchists when they dont have a clue what it even means. Anyone thats not a PUNK or thats different they just push out the way, which is totaly hypocritical to anarchy all together. So yes to answer your question, there are many punks around, but do I like any of them? No. Are any of them true punks? No.

(Or not. I don't know anymore and I'm not sure I even Care)

my girlfriends mom used to go out with the guitar player of TSOL and my friend Vanessas uncle is the lead singer of Suicidal Tendencies. Im glad i live in the South Bay region of L.A otherwise i would have never met the people i did.
Punk is alive and well over here and everyone is welcome. Its pretty cool i have some kind of connection with punks from the original scene. Infact Cyco mike gave me a ride to my house once. I would not lie.

It was weird. The phenomena seemed to be concentrated in a certain area, a few blocks away from Gino's by the 7-eleven but if you headed down toward the satue of Athena there was no trace of it. Either way, there was a good burrito place decorated like a 16 year old girl's bedroom and a really cool out of print book store so my first trip to Portland was definitely a success. :)

It is defiantly a cool little city!! I lived there in the late 90's but prices have skyrocketed since then the same 3 bedroom apt. I rented in 98 for $550 a month now goes for $1100 a month. So when we tried moving to Portland in 2003 we ended up here instead where my 3 bedroom is only $800 with heat and hot water included and a giant yard.

The lakes were pretty cool for camping in the summer and playing on the ice in the winter. Also, I remember watching Iron Man cartoons in French for some reason...

Maine is a very French-Canadian area, we get a lot of French speaking tourists. The city I live in is sister cities with Quebec City. We fly the Quebec flag at the same height as the Maine flag in these parts!

Ah, that explains it. I've only been there twice since I was five years old but the visits were further south.

I shaved my head and maybe three months later met my now-good friend Prickynikki and his friend carlos. They're both my age and now I know about twenty other punks, just going into skinheadism... which I did cause STL started to die. We still have a nice group of "new wave rudies" which are like the third wave/pop ska fans, and I absolutely love them b/c most of them listen to tons of 2tone ska. They don't touch any of the original ska stuff though... it's like poison to 'em. the punks around here are barley here, the few bands left (there where ten or fifteen two years ago, down to maybe five or six) have moved on musically or are still playing the same songs as two or three years ago... not lots of anyone around anymore except my new freinds and my skinhead freinds, and then all of the ten(?) old punks.... oh well.

I can relate. I live in a small coastal town you can walk from one side to the other in about 25 minutes.....there is a lot of hardcore shows but no punk scene...Hence i do my best to get to sydney as often as possible,Thriving punk scene there.

There are plenty of typical Punks, Street Punks/Chaos Punx (thumbs down), and Hardcore kids around here, but I'm a Crusty/Anarcho-Punk type, I need to find a local Crust scene...since I haven't lived where I am too long I feel pretty confident I'll be able to find some other crusties (plus there are lots of dreadlocks and homeless people in this town). I also wanna get a Peace/Anarcho-Grindcore band (with healthy amounts of Powerviolence, Crust, and D-Beat/D-Crust in the sound as well) going too, gotta find some Crusties/Anarcho-Punks who like blast beats and noise haha

Punk's going strong in the UK, even in the south east. But growing up I was the only punk under the age of thirty-forty I knew (discounting Blink cover bands), which is how I earned the nick name "Johnny Punk" Oh well, beats the hell out of "Rubber Johnny"

I got two other punks that i know of. The rest of the people around here are mall punks, emos and scenies. Around here, it's cool to look 'punk', but if you stopped any random person and asked if they knew blitzkid or the Kennedys, they'd look at you funny and go on about Blood on the Dance Floor and Bullet for my Valentine and say THAT'S punk. You then have 2 choices, argue with them or walk away. My friend ( a metalhead) was bitching about how it's the same thing. I'm in a towwn full of posers.

My boyfriend and I are the only punks in the "greater seattle area" that I know of. Once you actually get in the city, there are plenty. Just not in the surrounding towns. There are a few kids that like some punk music though.

None here, but once i was right next to a guy and his phone went off and it was a misfits song. As i was leaving i said "nice ringtone" and he looked at me shocked/confused. (I really don't look like a punk when I'm at work) a few days later i saw him again and he was wearing a bad religion shirt. So maybe there are punks in my town and I dont even know it.

I get some ska shows, the most punk thing that comes around is patent pending, I live in levittown (levittown is for lovers, the L-town shakedown) That is if anyone listens to them. and yeah a few ska shows, but im talking about like 45 year old rude boys, this one kid with like a weird curly mohawk, think like 15 year old kid who wears all this rude boy shit, a mod, and these two fat guys, one of which elbowed me in the face, I go to alot of the harcore shows cause my freinds like that stuff, i mean its not that bad, and i like the people so fuck i might as well.

I just gotta wait out till warpedtour.

Levittown, NY you should head down to some of the show at candy's or go up to amittyville.

The city we are from we are the only punks, but the scene we are attributed to there are roughly 15 solid 15 solid punks and then an overwhelming amount of hipsters who just go to hang around and gawk

I'm in a rural punk pocket. Maybe 15 or 20 of us max.Mostly with a hardcore focus here.

We had an awesome dive bar downtown where we all hung out pretty much daily, but my friends that owned it ended up going under last year. They had small shows every weekend. There was a small stage in the back room & we'd push the pool tables out of the way to make room for dancing. The place was a charming dump. We painted the backroom with chalk board paint & kept sidewalk chalk back there to encourage the artists. The roaches were almost friendly by 3am. The beer never stopped flowing.Miss it.

So now we all are back to going to DC or Baltimore for shows again.

The punk scene in south Florida seems pretty active. Lots of shows in a specific venue we got down here, and recently a DIY venue has risen for the locals to play in and so out of towners have a place to play. Ive been really digging it lately since just recently I've involved myself in punk.

Minneapolis has one of the best crust and punk scenes around, and I have many fellow crusties to go to shows and whatnot, so it's really nice here! Most of my friends are the old school goth types however, so it can vary, I warm up to most people right away.

There is a straight edge scene in the next town closeby. I never seen any of them or nothing but found a sXe page on facebook so I know there is one. other than that there is no one but me in a town where 5000 people live and work that even knows what punk means. the sxe scene seems to be people that dont eat meat nor wear leather and listen to pop music by the way. so I guess none around many miles from where I live.

whoohooo for being one of a kind even though I sometimes could use some friends and company .

South Florida man- loads of ska (good with me) but not much punk, which is a major downer for me. I basically live and breath punk rock. There's me, and my friends Sezi, Rick, and Nich. That's all around here, considering I live in the middle of nowhere off the side of Miami.
There's loads of people at the shows though- I'm guessing most of them come from Melbourne or Doral though

Something about not having an operational license or the like. It's really the location that screwed them over IMO. It was in a residential area.

there are some who like to dress and listen to rather warp tour banality. but i'm a degenerate who lives just below the radar and does what he wants to. so "punk" can mean a lot of things. the question in itself can be argumentative but i say no and others would say some. it's not about what you and others like exactly but what you and others do. i think. why look like the damned? who cares? right? but i rarely want to see a show where i live cause it's uninteresting to me around here. if that's an answer.
