I have to say emo. The uppermost respect to the kids who enjoy that music and are sincere about protecting the "integrity" of their "scene" but second to disco, it has to be some of the worst music I've ever heard in my life. Plus, I feel a lot of emo is sexist.

It was a tough choice between the emo/screamo and the pop. I chose the pop because I have to take my sister to shows like Green Day and I'm miserable the whole time, so it's demise would be welcome.

Ummm... you did one thing that people always do and it always pisses me off! Mislabling!
You called Have Heart and Hatebreed and all the other bands except Agnostic Front, the wrong music genre. (If Agnostic Front wasn't in that list of bands and the bands weren't labelled as Hardcore, then I'd probably vote them as bands I'd like to fuck off instead of what I already voted for [screamo]. That type of music sounds awful and it is spoiling the word Hardcore) In order for them to be called Hardcore, they would have to sound something like Minor Threat or the DK's, but both of the bands you mentioned sound nothing like them or authentic Hardcore Punk, (Hardcore/Punk). Even though wikip. says Have Heart is "Hardcore Punk", the only people who think that are 14-17 year old kids who've never picked up a real Hardcore record. (I'm not saying you are one of these kids I'm talking about.) They sound way to metal sounding & I so I would those bands lean more towards Metalcore.

Not into street punk? Bummer.
Hate?? For example, in my daughter´s schoolyard, I hear that the emo and the punk kids get along well. I see no reasons for promoting hate between genres that after all are somewhat related and are all sort of tributary to Punk, wether you like it or not. There are other things in this world that deserve your hate and oposition, not kids, musicians and bands.

These bands are hardcore bands and as such full members of the hardcore scene. Walk up to any of those bands and tell them they aren't hardcore.
You have done what I hate. Called the scene too good for anybody but what you believe it be. The hardcore scene has grown and developed into what it is today, unrecognizable to old schoolers, but undeniably still a strong presence. Just because your blinders are on, doesnt mean these bands aren't hardcore.
The hardcore scene has grown into something much bigger than you or me, and who are we to say the next hardcore band isn't a hardcore band. Do we use out-dated 30 year old sets of rules to judge bands by now? As long as they stick to basic ethos of the scene, I guess we are allowed our own opinions.
Just because one likes a certain genre, doesn't mean one is going to like every single band in it, unless they are susceptible to brainwashing or promotes an idea of fascism where everybody follows just one set of specific rules.
I don't think it's fair for you to attack those bands like that.

90 percent of the bands in AP Magazine are emo/pop punk.(I would love for you to argue that point with some factual evidence) I snagged the list from bands that are put under that umbrella group as they are featured in the magazine that is proud to represent that scene. Please tell me that you know more than the folks who are actually in the bands about what genres they fall under.
Interestingly since emo has become so mainstream, many of the bands, like fallout boy and paramore cashed in their emo roots for pop-punk. Of which, the Used never pulled off. And this is more punk, not dashboard confessional indie type stuff.

Post punk revival
Afterwards it's post-post punk revival.
And if that died and was resurrected it would be Post Post Punk Revival Revival!
and after that...Post Post Post Punk Revival Revival!
and after that...Post Post Post Punk Revival Revival Revival!
and after that...Post Post Post Post Punk Revival Revival Revival!
and after that...Post Post Post Post Punk Revival Revival Revival Revival!
and after that...Post Post Post Post Post Punk Revival Revival Revival Revival!

At this point the strokes would resurrect and the floodwaters would kill alot of innocent panda bears.

Exactly! All the bands ChrisJones listed under Hardcore are shit. They just sound like Emo or Screamo (not lyric-wise, but music wise) how they start off slow then build up to a "breakdown" but sounds way to metal sounding.
Most new "hardcore punk (they tend to leave out the punk part when labelling their genre) " bands are shit. Way too metalcore sounding.

Yeah, I even know some guys that say Hardcore isn't Punk, because punk is too "soft". They think bands like madball, later cro-mags, etc... are the ones who started their hardcore, when even those bands admit that they're crossover thrash and that Hardcore Punk influenced them.

When the facts contradict your opinion, you should reconsider keeping this debate going.
And as far as AP being a credible source well how about this:
AP MAGAZINE WAS THE FIRST PUBLICATION TO EVER FEATURE THESE BANDS: All Time Low, The Maine, Fall Out Boy, Paramore, My Chemical Romance, The All-American Rejects, Panic! at the Disco, Brand New, Hawthorne Heights, The Used, Taking Back Sunday, Avenged Sevenfold, Coheed and Cambria, and others.
The magazine was also the first national music publication to put Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, Smashing Pumpkins and other alternative-rock icons on its covers.
Tell me again AP has no credibility in covering the emo, screamo and pop punk genres...so I can bang my head against the wall at how false and misleading your statement is given how it contradicts reality.

A real screamo band is Pg 99 (sounds nothing like Fall Out Boy).
A real pop punk band is Bis (sounds nothing like Good Charlotte).
I listen to Paramore and there is NOTHING punk or emo about them.
That is specifically due to the way they are marketed to the masses.
We all have different perceptions of what each genre should be. I've talked to parents who won't let their kids listen to paramore because it's too "out there". Same with Avril.
At the same time, the genres are fairly flexible, and some bands market themselves as 2-3 genres at a time. To be honest, I don't think all the bands in a single genre or two should sound just like all the others, what would the point be? That's what makes our music so great, is the diversity. There is something for every body.
So... you really have to take all of this with a grain of salt.
I know Chris IRL, he is a smart and objective cookie (and he has been around the block a time or two). I think the bands were listed specifically to generalize, not to target, the genres, in case we had a hard time deciding or were unclear about what it is 'usually' considered. You'd be surprised at how many people really don't understand the different genres at all. It's just a guide. From one perspective to another in a little poll.

Post punk is bands that were specifically influenced by punk, but don't fall under the punk genre, therefore they are "subsequent to" punk.

I voted emo because i hate the music, if you want to call it that. The screechy 12 year-old girl sound and the fact the emos think they're too mature to have fun at gigs. I don't hate them, i just hate their music... It has no energy what so ever. When i listen to something like Exploited i have no choice but to start moving, i can't sit still and listen to UK 82!!

I really don't see why we should go condemning other people's tastes just because they don't align with ours to an exact degree... live your life the way you want to, and let everyone else do the same thing...
ALL.Its like"we're not a punk band except for attitude-we want to be accessable to everyone."Calling something ____core or____ punk is a cheap cry for credibility. So Avril Levine is AORcore?Or Adult contemperary punk?I know punk when I hear it and most of you all do too.

Subcultures ought to be encouraged, not put down. Diversity is better than a stagnant music scene where evrybody sounds the same. Fuckit, be creative and mix some classical or traditional chinese music in with punk-why the fuck not? I voted emo, cos I had to vote something, but even so, it's their views and their tastes and it has nothing to do with me.
Fuck the people who think 'pure inbred punk-punk' is the only genre worth existing.

"Punk subculture that needs to die."
Rock Against Communism. Which is none of the above.
Rock Against Communism is a lot better than a lot of the shit called music, no matter what genre you can bring up. I'd rather hear music that promotes racehate than poppy punk, or emotive hardcore shit. I mean, fuck, you could've at least said "g.g. allin coulda been erased frm history", but not nazipunk. The only people that the nazis offend are the people that aren't white, or idiotic white people that feel that the white race should apologize for the fact that we've enslaved majorities, and because hitler killed a few million people because he had his own ideas. blah blah blah. big fuckin deal.

You posted two blog sites from the opinions of two people.
Since you have broken it down into a matter of opinion, we can go that route.
I have picked the band's opinions on their music vs. what some random internet shit talkers have said.
screamo has double bass pedling and it sucks. the only band i litsne to with ouble bass peddling is death because theyre the greatest and chuck is god. i swear he is!

Well... when it comes to sound, I have heard RAC bands (except for the crappy ones that try to mix with metal) that are better sounding than crunkcore like Blood On The Dance Floor, or metalcore-ish scene stuff like Bring Me The Horizon.

The best RAC bands are the Angry Aryans, INFANTRY, and Geimrhe.
A cd called "Smashing Rainbows-Rock Against Homosexuality" is a great starter record. I got it like a month ago and I've had so much fun with it.
I'm glad this thread hasn't turned into an argument yet, only 'cause I get sick of arguing with the same people over the same shit all the time.

I don't think I can agree on this, except for the beer part ;)
I'm offended by nazipunk but I can't say I feel sorry for something that happened so many years ago. It wasn't my fault right?
Yet still, I just can't believe that some people want to bring that stuff back. If it's happening right now, I can do something about it. And I'll be damned if anything like that ever happens again without me trying to do something about it!

Seeing as I'm half Jewish and openly bisexual, I don't think that there's ANY problem with me knowing about RAC or the 3rd Reich. My great-grandfather killed Jews and Russians in WW2, and I still respect him, even if he followed a mad dictator's orders that were CLEARLY based on racism and hatred. That doesn't mean that I hate EVERYONE based on skin color, sexuality, religion, or ethnicity. So shut the fuck up with your overly politically correct bullshit. Agree to disagree, learn the fuckin term before you go all witchhunty just because someone openly admits to liking haterock/core. As I've also said before...if liking white power material or music should be illegal, so should rap, and sex, and christianity, and anything else that people enjoy. Fair is fair, and I reserve the right to listen to something that I like, regardless of whether or not that it openly promotes racial hatred, degradation of women, pedophilia, drug use, or anything. Simply for the fact that I have a good time with it, and having fun is all that matters, or at least I thought it was at one point in time.
Even better yet, is the fact that Hitler would've killed me, you, and probably half the people that frequent this site. LOL.

Seeing as I'm blonde haired and blue eyed, I'd fit right in if I went to a nazi show. This is such a stupid argument, to be quite honest. I get tired of the witchhunts. I said I like the music, I didn't once say that I support their political beliefs, did I? It's fine to like things, even if they're ridiculously negative, and be the antithesis of what they wish to achieve. I like things I like, as do you, so just leave it at that. Kthxbai

No. Definitely not. Grindcore is like Capitalist Casualties or Benumb.

i'd really have to say any subgenre that puts "post" in their name. how the hell can you be "post punk" when punk is still around? considering its a prefix, meaning “behind,” “after,” “later,” “subsequent to” i just don't get it.
It's called "post-punk" cuz it has clear punk influences and backgrounds, but takes punk a step or two further, (whether it be in philosophy, asthetic, sound, etc etc) hence it's "post"...
