STORY
DATE: 12/07/2007 01:21:27 / MOOD: other

Ok, heres the story so far - the nervoussurgeons started in 03 as a hardcore punk/metal band. we covered slayer and exploited songs, as well as a couple of originals, the most popular being "suicide3" an ode, and a reply of sorts to my favorite punk band proud scum. the core of the band, me and the bro keza had formed punk bands years prior after first hearing green day. it started at the 97 rockquest as the hemorroids where we first encountered tk421, the woohoos and the aroused, and later on as unintelligencia a politico/punk band doing mainly clash and sex pistols covers. we played a couple of shows, with minus title, and a death/metal band called sick who would eventually end up as skankamelia. after a year or two in wellington, i returned to gisborne and quickly formed the nervoussurgeons just for a jam. the name somehow stuck, however reduced usually to just "the surgeons". we frequented local hardcore and metal venues and we were always well recieved by confused but well-entertained bogans and hardcore kids alike. it was during these hardcore days we first met long time bros saving grace and ritalin and got to play some very memorable shows and partys that generally ended in all kinds of chaos and bloodshed. as american pop/punk bands and that ak79 influence crept into my songwriting we eventually digressed into a far more melodic 3 piece punk/rock band. in 05 we were just learning real band etiquette, playing shows with the likes of sunny jim, blistering tongues and skankamelia to much more diverse audiences. the song "locked away" was recorded on a handycam at one of these shows. we also found time that year to record our first real song "sexy fony" with local rock guru luke porter which can be found on the gisborne surfing dvd "wolfskinz". 06 saw more gigs and another recording session, this time with mr andrew kirk. "only when" and "love sux" were featured and thrashed here on myspace, as well as "run away" which won us a grand on a local radio competition. we were reunited that year with two thirds of local punk legends tk421 who had reformed themselves as the rocket jocks and joined them on some great gigs. the infamous "car yard chaos" being the most noteworthy where we got to play with tentecales of destruction and the rebelles. as well as the suicide dogs who we later hosted here in gisborne. we also played a great show with the wbc as part of the rythym and vines festival here over new years. this years been another busy one. we started off playing shows with vicious rumour both here and in napier, and the dregs. and a massive catch up with our old mates ritalin. we also teamed up with lucas from the rocket jocks and formed covers band crystal shit to play a show with ska legends the offbeats. our third recording session started very ambitiously with enough material for a double album. but as time/money restrictions took hold, restrictions on our sound and style were completely lifted, thus we have the punk/screamo/psychedelic mystery that is "the fever" set to be released as a single real soon... so we find ourselves now completley different nervoussurgeons than as we started, but still just as viable at the hardcore shows and maybe more so. we reunited recently with hardcore monsters saving grace and shared the stage with antagonist, black disaster, problems and eight foot sativa at some huge local shows. we've also now had the privilege of supporting the infamous die!die!die!(and their habits) at a show in napier. this summer the surgeons are gonna travel more, and record some cool new stuff we wrote with chambers, and hopfully play more and more ruthless shows, and do whatever else it is we do... (?)

see yaa soon !
