Okay.  I'm old.  If you're in a band that wants to add me as a friend, please don't be "cookie-cutter punk rock."  That doesn't JUST mean pop-punk...it means GENERIC mohawk-punk and GENERIC hardcore ("up the system" whatever...you're too involved in your own ego to care)...or even worse- claim that you're the "MOST EVIL" band in the world.  It's all STUPID and has been DONE BEFORE.  Have you ever heard of a thing called ORIGINALITY??? 

Okay.  Let's take it a step further...THERE IS ONLY AND WILL ONLY BE ONE JOHNNY THUNDERS.  You are not him, so stop trying.  Next...THERE IS ONLY ONE BAND CALLED THE CLASH, AND YOU ARE NOT THEM.  Let's keep going...THERE IS ONLY ONE BAND CALLED THE POGUES AND YOU ARE NOT THEM.  Finally, THERE IS ONLY ONE BAND CALLED THE DWARVES!!!  You are not them and NEITHER ARE THE DWARVES ANYMORE.  Where did the dangerous, crazy stuff go...The Dwarves do pop-punk???  Fuck it.

Damn.  I sound jaded...you know what...I AM.  I've played in many bands for the last 10 years and I'm tired of the same old story. 

Do something new.  Blend your influences.  Umm...don't be so one dimensional.  Perfect example- MAD SIN.  They're a mixture of psychobilly, punk, etc and HAVE MELODY.  Well written songs with hooks.  Sure, some "psychobilly purest don't agree with me- "they're not the same!!!  listen to their older stuff..."  Whatever.  Have you ever heard of a band called The Clash?  They re-invented themselves a couple of times, BUT maintained their integrity.

Do you have integrity??? Or are you just jumping on the newest bandwagon???
