DATE: 11/04/2007 04:14:19 / MOOD: happy

The November issue of Distorted is now here and it’s filled with some pretty interesting material. John Robb pays homage to the late Paul Fox. Anti-Nowhere League talk to us about their new album, parenting with Jim Lindberg of Pennywise, a look at four film directors who make punk films and we interview the Toasters, American Steel, London’s Moral Dilema, african skankers The Rudimentals, Career Soldiers, and the list just goes on and on.Don’t forget to check out new regular about girls in the punk scene, and our semi-regular, simply titled ‘Favourites’. Our first candidate is The Great Deceiver frontman Tomas Lindberg (who also has a beard!). And we still got the reviews and other regular material stuff we have every month in Distorted.

See ya next month for our one year birthday issue!

Paul Fox RIP
DATE: 10/21/2007 17:38:06 / MOOD: other

OFFICIAL RUTS STATEMENTDate: 21 Oct 2007 21:27Legendary guitarist, Paul Fox, died at home in Uxbridge at 3AM thismorning.Over the years Paul has performed and recorded with many of the worldsgreatest musicians but he will mainly be remembered for his revolutionarypunk/dub reggae fusion guitar playing with influential punk band The Ruts.Paul had been in semi retirement for several years but went back out on theroad again in 2006 playing the Ruts music with Foxys Ruts which featuredhis son Lawrence Fox on drums. The band were well received, both in the UKand Europe.Following his diagnosis with cancer at the end of May 2007 a benefit gigwas organised featuring many of the musicians that Paul had worked with oralongside over the years. There was no doubt about the high esteem in whichPaul was held by his fellow musicians as the line up read like a who’s whoof the UK punk scene with performances by The Damned, Misty in Roots, theUK Subs, Tom Robinson, John Otway, Splodge, TV Smith and many more. For the first time in 27 years the surviving members of the Ruts took tothe stage together with Henry Rollins standing in for the late Malcolm Owenwho died of a drugs overdose in 1980.The night was a fitting tribute to one of our much under rated and unsungguitar heros.Paul leaves behind his sons Lawrence and William and his wife, Sharon. He will be dearly missedSarah Pink, on behalf of the Ruts.www.myspace.com/peafish

October issue now online
DATE: 09/30/2007 15:37:02 / MOOD: high

The October issue of Distorted is literally bursting at the seams with great content. Our cover feature is none other than the Dropkick Murphys and we give you the complete breakdown on their latest release, ‘The Meanest of Times’.  Not to be out done, Jake Burns of Stiff Little Fingers, tells us about the making of their new DVD and who they feel being such an influential band. We chat to pop punk’s new heroes, Orange, about their new album. The Flatliners are cornered in their van and we find out what is going on with them. Ska makes it’s presence felt in the form of the Newtown Kings feature while Less Than Jake explains the reasons behind their six night residency in London. The internet is still a very yong technology and just as you’re reading Distorted online, PunkRadioCast, are pioneering the net for radio use. Founder, Danny Keyes talks to us. If that isn’t enough, we catch up with  The Unseen after their Warped tour stint, FungalPunk goes ‘Under the Radar’ once again to see what is happening in the underground, the Dead Boys get disected in our history section and we review a great collection of albums and shows.  We’d like to say thank you to all those who entered the NOFX ticket giveaway competition - check if you won by heading over to page 14 of this issue.

Rebellion was a blast and we’ve brought you some coverage of the event in this issue. To all those people we met, we’ll see ya again soon. Speaking of the new issue, yip, that’s the one you’re reading now, there is a diverse selection bands featured this month. From the dirty reggae sounds of the Aggrolites we bounce off walls as we speak to Monster Squad and then take a ‘billy break with Judder & the Jack Rabbits and fellow genre friends, Hot Rocket Trio. We delve into the history of the Damned in our history section, Fungalpunk speaks to Koncept, Willa quizzes Set Your Goals, we introduce you to DUN2DEF and review some albums and shows just like we do every month. As for  ‘all things punk rock’, that’s what the Rebellion Aftermath story is all about.
