im a solid person who grew up in the hardcore/punk scene in the early 80's and ive pretty much heard-seen it all in the scene and im still here.
ive gone through the death/rebirth/death/rebirth of punk and to be honest punk today is kinda weak and way to fucking HOT TOPIC. Pre-fab, homogenized, distilled, watered down, pre-shrunk, acid washed, screen printed, bland and boring are all words or terms that i use to describe the state of punk music/scene today.
It would seem that the bands are all rich asshole trust fund kids whose sole reason for living is to get into the soundtrack for the next tony hawk game and be the next Blink182.
The art and intelligence is all gone and in its place is the plastic rotting fruit that is MYCHECMICALROMANCE. Fingernails painted black, white skinny ties, completely black wardrobes and guy-liner. Frank Zappa is shitting in his grave as i speak.
I understand progression but it doesnt have to make way for weakness and lack of intestinal fortitude.
New punk is like Ronald Fucking Regan in music form.
