| BAND BIO |
Sad Society formed in Edinburgh in the early 1980s from the ashes of several other bands who were playing the punk circuit at that time, and played their first gigs in 1984. From the start, their tuneful songs and Deek Wilson’s sneering trad-punk-style vocals marked them out from the increasingly-derivative and talentless punk pack, and despite arriving too late to catch the original punk bandwagon, the band have continued to play the music they love as fashions and fads have come and gone. The band’s name was inspired by a headline in the Edinburgh Evening News many years ago, which read "We are living in a sad society". Since Sad Society’s songs are about the realities of life in this horrible world of forced-conformity, violence, greed and hatred which grinds people down and drives them to suicide, the headline struck a chord. We ARE living in a sad society! Still fronted by Deek Wilson, and with the solid rhythm section of Michael Laing and Andy McCombie and new guitarist Euan Ballantyne, Sad Society have a powerful, contemporary sound which is featured on their recently-recorded demos.
Sad Society are also on MySpace. Feel free to add us there! To contact Deek, please e-mail him at sadsociety82@hotmail.com. Cheers! |
