I'm the singer, Ade. I'm gonna do this site from my own perspective of what it is to have been/ to be in Red Letter Day. I formed the Day in 1984. Me and Daryn, our drummer, had played in bands previously, ironically enough kinda post-punk stuff. Without pigeonholing we wanted to be in a band that sounded kinda like the UK Subs, Vibrators, Buzzcocks. The stuff we loved and listened to. We started our recorded output with a self financed single leading to a John Peel session and us having a few record deals after that. I have had some of the best and worst times of my life with our band. We have had five guitarists and six bass players, but I have always had Daryn, as a rock, behind me. All I wanted was to write, rehearse, record, release, tour and conquer the world. Pretty simple stuff. But the most difficult thing is getting four people from various walks of life to get on with this without their own egos and agendas getting in the way. To me everything was so simple, 'It's easy being in The Day, everything's laid on a plate, all I ask is for people to be their and try' Not so. As Ray, one of our guitarists said 'No, Ade, we expect so much of people'. I couldn't see it at the time but it's kinda sinking in now. I've uploaded my personal faves, music wise, rather than the obvious, although included 'Rain' for obvious reasons! The photos are of every line-up, including one-offs where a friend helped us fulfil a gig, including the last, shortlived, line-up that never played a show but recorded 'Our Streets' Nov 2008. Just haven't got a shot of our buddy, Van, who depped for Daryn on a '95 Czech tour. Since 2007 Daryn and I have had two failed attempts to raise The Day. Never say never but at the moment I try to look after my family, work and support my beloved Hawks FC. Musicians? The most selfish, inconsiderate, self-centred subclass I've encountered.... Ade XxX
