"Jellyfish inn" is an indie-rock band from Saint-Petersburg, Russia. The band was formed in 2012. Today "Jellyfish inn" consists of Hella (vocal, lyrics, music), Vanish (guitars, music), Dimushka (basses, music) and Egor (drums, music). Musically the band has different combination of indie-rock, shoegaze, dream-pop, pop-rock and even post-grunge. In their music you can hear the elements of 80'alter rock or melancholy of classic emo-bands. There are no standarts or references. The key part of the sound is Hella's voice which is putting over the strange guitar effects and readable rhythm-section. Guys say: "Music is the main part. Lyrics is the second. Vocal also makes the music. But we quite love her texts. They are real". The name "Jellyfish inn" was taken from one of the songs - another surge of sociopathy. Jellyfish is a human that gets emotionally and mentally dominated by another human. That human is left empty and pathetic, like the common jellyfish. Many people don't live their own lives, they are just stay in captivity of their partners, friends, bosses... They don't have own opinions, they are totally lost the fill under the shell. Humanity incomprehension is not the only theme of Hella's lyrics. She sings about personal problems, friendship, hard (and sometimes negative) expericence of getting older, attemps of finding herself and her own place in this World, etc. "I'm trying to stop the stream of thoughts inside my head, to bring you my mood. But my mood... it's changing every minute" - says Hella. The second word "inn" was added cause of copyright. Final title "Jellyfish inn" has consonance with "jellyfishing" (lack of character or permanent concessions). Every song is a tribute to the musical taste of every band member which are quite various. Now, united with a Finnish producer Anssi Kippo, the band is ready to present their first Extended Play. |
