| AWOL69 was the precursor to Orange County's Hardcore Skate Band Doggy Style. They formed in 1981 while attending Esperanza High School in Anaheim and had a large influence on the local scene. They disbanded upon graduation when several members left for college in late 1983. AWOL 69 wrote and performed many DS songs that you may recognize; such as, "Donut Shop Rock", "Ladies from Neptune", and "Preteens." Today, the band has reformed with Original members Tim Fyke (Fyke Von Thrash) on Vocals, Ed Caudill (Shaggy) on guitar, and Eric Vedder (Binger) on Bass. New Additions include Danny Staggs (Danny Patrol) on guitar and Dave Chavez on drums. Past members include, Danny Johnston drums, Keith Putnam bass, Tom Ogawa guitar and Kelly Maiden Guitar (RIP). The band has been rehearsing old material along with new material. AWOL 69 returned to the studio in June 2009. "Preteens" is an AWOL 69 song recorded by Doggy Style for a FLIPSIDE compilation featuring Tim Fyke on vox, Ed Caudill on guitar and Danny Johnston on drums (1987). The remaining songs were recorded with Paul Roessler of The Screamers,45 Grave, Twisted Roots fame in Malibu at Geza X's Satellite Park studio. Two of the listed songs were recorded with Dave Irish of "The Irish Brothers" fame. All of which were recorded in June 2009. Hope to catch you at a show. Enjoy the tunes! |
