I've seen a few people I knew personally on this site when I joined...but they hadn't been logged in for like a year or more.  And I've met one person in person after meeting them on this site...  As far as Ohio's scene Depends on the city I suppose.  Cincinnati is ok.  Its sorta got two scenes (that I've noticed) that sometimes merge.  Its kind of died down lately.  Dayton is sorta the same.  Activity seems to come in spurts.  It'll be really active for a year of so and then sorta fizzles out.  I can't say much about other cities like Columbus, Cleveland or Toledo cause I'm not really near them...they are bigger cities than Cincinnati so I would hope they have better scenes...who knows.
