| BAND BIO |
So yeah THIS is my solo project, also named patrick lew's band! i am basically a novice guitarist/songwriter and home musician hobbyist at home. basically. writing songs and recording them on my laptop using mixcraft and my cheap guitar from walmart. i was playing guitar in a few local garage bands from san francisco, when i was in high school and going to city college. in 2008, i moved to antioch in the east bay and began pursuing my music by recording my own songs i wrote in my bedroom. and then! posting them for everyone to hear and see online on hella websites. i play guitar, sing and program all the virtual rock band sounds you hear on record. the music's not for everyone! but, i basically write introspective grunge/punk songs about problems in society, conflicts within the music scene and industry and universal freedom and self-acceptance. I am 25 years old, an Asian American of Japanese/Taiwanese descent. and an aspiring amateur punk musician and artist. i made this music page out of complete randomness and boredom to self-promote my music on websites online. i go to school at cal state east bay. almost done and getting my BA degree in philosophy soon! it's been 20 years of going to school and getting an education before moving to something bigger and better in life. i make my music, because it's what i love doing. and i am not good at mixing/producing my own music on the computer. i play guitar kind of well. when i practice my guitar and is most focused and ambitious, is when i play well. and i just began songwriting and singing for about 2 years now. i try, at least. Give it a listen. if you like what you hear, leave me a critique or message. and support my music. if not, skip this music page! Speaking of being an Asian outsider musician and stuff, I love college and it's been a very rewarding experience so far. I'm almost 30, well not almost! But I've been alive and kicking it since November of 1985! Speaking of what I'm into, I listen to lots of music on my MP3 player. I love that Hard Rock, Punk and of course! Seattle grunge and 90's Alternative Rock! I enjoy playing guitar, playing video games (preferably Xbox 360 and PlayStation 2), watching movies on DVD. I read and write a lot, I mainly read books about music or anything related to Electronics. In case you didn't know, I promote my own Punk music on the Internet hoping to get someone to hear it, and share it. And I do play guitar in uber primitive Garage Bands too. I make very unique yet sloppily produced and performed (sometimes) Punk and Rock kind of music. I play power chords on guitar, and I use my electronics on my Macbook to give it that Rock Band sound. Sort of. I'm a one man band, pretty much. And I play guitar and write my OWN songs and I produce my music on my laptop. I formed Patrick Lew's Band in 2001. Now this is my second decade as a local Punk musician in the Bay. | EXPLAIN THE NAME |
|
Why this name?
My given name. My one man band.
Do you play live?
No. I mostly make music at my house in my bedroom. Playing guitar and recording Punk Rock or Rock songs on my computer and posting it online. As a hobby on my own.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Changes things for the better. Allows all independent musicians and bands to get heard, and no longer having to depend on record labels and music industry corporations. There's a place now for all indie musicians to get heard.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I don't know. Because for one, I hate the music business. Maybe. If I got real benefits and opportunities from it. And I can have a BAND and play shows at clubs, and get help to improve myself playing music. And having my CDs sold in a record store. Then yes. If they keep ignoring me as an Artist and promoting other bands besides me. Than no. |
| GEAR |
|
My CHEAP guitars, Line6 TonePort GX, Apple GarageBand and chaotically insane ideas. And scant producing and mixing skills as a Punk/Grunge musician. |
