HUSSIESKUNK.COM REVIEW: Detroit's Flat Broke are back with their latest effort of grimey street rock meets punk rock snarl. Unlike the previous album of twenty-plus tracks, Flat Broke is showcasing the best eleven songs they've got. What isn't missing on the album is the intensity and passion that exudes from Flat Broke. The power and fury that the band is known for in their sound is off the charts once again. With tracks like the opener "$0 Down" about burying yourself to your eyeballs in debt to make an American dream to "Marijuana", I don't think I need to explain this one, and "Warrant" with the catchy chorus; Flat Broke continue to pull inspiration from their personal worldview and political insight. It's not that Flat Broke are out to indoctrinate or sway your opinion of some ideal, instead they're just belting out tracks that tell you how it is and how it's affected them. I really dig Flat Broke's straight ahead punk rock attitude, their snotty vision of the world and that they can rock out to any subject without being overbearing or preachy. Flat Broke seems to have graduated from songs about beer to something more substantial... Is that alright? I think that it is, cause the band is still wearing it out and making some of the better beer soaked street rock around. -MG www.hussieskunk.com - punk radio FLAT BROKE....BACK TO THE STUDIO!!!!!!!!
