When brother Tim Napalm suggested PunkRockers.com to the faithful readers of his mywasteofspaceplace blog, my first thought was the usual excitement at anything punk rock

And then I thought back to a handfull of the really dipshit punkers I've encountered over the years; cats who although very cool, referred to the Velvet Underground as "hippies", called the Clash sellouts, hated Iggy Pop, etc, ad nauseam.

"Great," I thought.  "More of these dipshits."

Then last night I noticed the Cecil Taylor video that someone posted.  For the uninitiated, Cecil Taylor was a major force in avant-garde jazz, something that, to me, is very punk rock.  Noisy and obnoxious.  What's not to like about that?  What's not punk rock about that?

Nothing, if you see punk as merely an extension of the Bohemian tradition, but that's another story.

As the late great D Boon of the Minutemen said, "Punk rock is what we make it."
