If you've made the mistake of watching fox noise or listening to a right-wing pundit lately, you've probably heard a lot about how the democrats will raise your taxes and create a big government. They harp on this so much, it's all you hear.
But what does "big government" actually mean? What's so awful about the government helping out it's people? We've seen what happens with too little government intervention in the last 8 years. A republican takes the white hosue and suddenly there's no plan or money to help people whose lives have been ruined by a flood (a billion dollar a day war doesn't help either). Cattle are mistreated and contaminated before being slaughtered and fed to people, because private businesses take over where the government has stepped out and they're more concerned with profit than safety. The government is the last line of defense for people in many situations. So if anything, the democrats should be warning people against smaller government implemented by the republicans.
and what about taxes? Look, I just feel that people should help each other out. Taxes are raised by the left to pay for programs that help people who need the help. The right just doesn't like it because they and their rich crony friends pay the most. The poor things. What will they do without their 2nd vacation home or third car? Does anyone really feel bad for these assholes? I don't think the republicans should get all high and mighty about taxes. It's their president whose spent trillions of dollars on a war that 2/3rds of the country doesn't even support.
So when you hear Laura Ingram or Sean Hannity going off about lower taxes and smaller government, just remember the last eight years. We tried low taxes and small government. It obviously failed miserably.
