Contrary to what the title suggests (health and comfort inspections) are neither about health nor comfort. On any given day the MPs and an HR rep can knock on your door and anounce that they are there to do a health and comfort inspection of your room and you are obliged to step out of your room and let them search for contraband. Since most of us in the middle east are subject to a rule know as general order#1, the list of contriband includes any alcahol or porn. Ofcourse being the rigid adherent to rules that I am (wink wink) I never have to worry about getting in trouble for contraband. However somebody that I worked with was caught last summer with nothing more lawless than an empty movie box from an adult title. Despite his imaginative story about having found the offending item amd being intent on dropping it in the (amnestybox) he was PNGed and deported to Canada.It really takes a special kind of beurocrat to make such rules. Despite my current employment I will continue to vote Libertarian when apropriate.
