We sound exactly like US, just making the sounds and saying the things we have always done. When you are as far ahead of the curve as we were (apparently one of the bands that started this thing called Horror Punk) it ends up being all the people that come later that are influenced by you, and if they say different they either been living under a bridge for the last almost three decades, or are lying. Real Punk Rock & Roll with a LOT of Horror, and an undertow of Classic Rockabilly. |

Started in Hollywood Karloffornia in the Summer of 1977 when punk was new and Horror Punk was unheard of, THE UNDEAD quickly became known as the undisputed west coast "Kings Of Gore Core". ...With no less than two of THE RAMONES (DeeDee and Joey) jumping at the chance to guest on The Undead's first single, released in late summer 1977. The band soon made their way up the coast to the bay area, basing themselves in San Francisco until 1988, then slid back down to the Los Angeles area (The Land of Celluloid Horror) where the bands official base still is today. Several Albums and scores of singles later, they are recognised as one of the major founding influences of the Punk / Horror Punk / Psychobilly and Gore-core genres... If you listen to those genres, THE UNDEAD crawled through the fiery trenches and attoned for your sins... Probably before you were even born.

| EXPLAIN THE NAME |
Singer SID TERROR's great-grandfather was Max Shreck... The actor that played the vampire in the classic 1922 Horror film NOSFERATU. The translation of "Nosferatu" from German to English is "Undead". Also, the translation of "Shreck" from German to English is "Terror". All making sense now? Lastly, there was a fake band called "The Undeads" in Terror's favorite film "Phantom of the Paradise". |
